I get Burning heat pain in my feet, legs, thighs, arms and hands this seems to be getting worse and seems to also be starting in my back and in Groin. It is much worse at night in bed and seems less noticable during active hours. It started in my feet and I noticed if I fasted it would go away, but just while fasting. This makes me wonder if it is digestive related somehow. My doctor seems to ignore these complaints and says it is my Irritable Bowl Syndrome. I went to a physic healer and she told me I had a very old case of Lymes Disease. I am not sure and am still trying to figure this out. The Psychic healer did help me and I think she may be right. The symtoms do seem similar to some extent with Sclero Derma which I don't think I have but there has been some linkage of sclero derma and Lymes Disease. Anyone have a comment or similar symtoms??

Andrea,
I am a painter also and just turned 50. I have the same symptoms as your boyfriend. I'd sure like to know what an EMG is also. Think its time for me to do a little surfing on both ALS and EMG.

I had the burning in my hands a few years ago. It was a symptom of carpul tunnel but the real cause was sarcoidosis. I went to see a naturopath who put me on a body clensing diet including lots of herbs and vitamins for four months and the problem went away. In addition to the burning, I also had a lot of swelling including large pockets of fluid on the backs of my wrists. My knees and ankles were swollen two but only the hands burned. I would awake in the middle of the night drenched in sweat and my knees would spasm deep inside whenever I shifted my position in my sleep. If I sat for any length of time and then got up and walked, my leg muscles would burn like an oxygen debt after running. Read 'The Body Ecology' and 'The d'Adamo Diet'

Like your other correspondants, I too have suffered from burning pains in my arms and legs for over six years. In addition,I felt so fatigued that I retired from work four years before retirement age.Unable to sleep at night ,I wandered up and down as movement was the only relief from the pain. However,21 days ago, having had every test known including MRI, Cat scans, nerve conductivity checks etc I decided to take matters into my own hands. I had noticed that when I took Folic Acid tabs this afforded some relief from the symptoms, albeit for only a short period of time. I have increased the Folic Acid to 2000micrograms and added 4000 micrograms of vitamin B12,taken in the morning after breakfast. Within three hours of the first dose I began to feel considerably better and now 21 days later the fatigue is much, much better without any relapse so far and the burning sensations in arms and legs are bearable and have been so for 18 out of 21 nights.Incidentally, chronic diarrhea has improved greatly. I now feel alive for the first time in years.

I have experienced burning feet and hands for six months now. I also have extreme pain in addition to the burning. I've had the nerve test (EMG), but the nerves to the feet were fine (no pheripal neuropathy). The nerves to the hands showed I had carpel tunnel syndroma in both hands. The blood tests were negative for arthritis, B-12 deficiency, and diebetis. I've been to physical therapy. I've seen many doctors and specialists, but no concrete diognosis yet. I do have Morton's neuroma in both feet and carpel tunnel syndrom in both hands, but that does not explain the intense burning that appeared in my hands and feet that started within days of each other. The pain is more than what the neuroma and CTS would warrant. Last week I had an MRI on my lumbar (low back) and I'm waiting for the results. This has all of the doctors baffled. I take elavil for the burning and helps tremendously. I take Neurontin for the nerve pain. And Naproxen as an anti-inflamatory. I had my gallbladder removed 3 years ago and I have many bad disks and had back surgery 16 years ago. I know I have narrowing of the spinal canal. I hope to find out what this is soon!!

My left arm has gone numb from time to time over the past year. Within the last week both arms and hands and now my legs and feet have tingling and numbness. MRI showed no nerve damage or disc problems. I do take Thyrolar for Hypothyroidism but a very low dose. My chiropractor does Kineseology and says he thinks I have a viral infection that is causing this. Does anyone have any ideas - I would really appreciate it! Thanks

I have burning in my hands and feet every night. It has been going on now for almost nine years with every test given by my doctors coming back negative. I have a history of carpal tunnel, but this does not explain the pain I have nightly. I have read the comments here and I am going to try the B-12. I am ready to try almost anything if it has the possibility of working. I pray that some research brainiac is working on this problem. Thanks everyone of you for you suggested home remedies.

I have been diagnosed with ddd. I've had surgery on my back at l-4.and l-5 its been 1 year 4 months no relief, still have pain in my back, legs, feet, bottom. I also have a bad disc in my neck which causes me to have pain in my neck, arms, and hands. Very hard to live with. The burning and stinging gets worse as the day goes by. I take pain medication Mepergan 50/25 and Neurontin 300mg and Promocet still in alot of pain. Sitting and standing is very hard alot of the time. I try hard to keep a good attitude about this although its very hard because you have to watch how you do things, and give up doing alot of things, and its seems no one understands. If any one has a cure for this please let me know about it.

I have similar symptoms. I have numbness in my extremeties. It is always both feet or both hands or all four. These started withiin 2 weeks after I had all of my teeth pulled and dentures. Some have suggested mercury poisoning from my many fillings. In April of 2003 the first symptoms started - first in both feet and then moving up my body to my arms and shoulders and face. I thought the worst was coming but the symptoms went away and would come back in the early morning hours for several months. Today, April 2004. Still have symptoms/taking Alprazilam.

I have had neck and upper back pain and severe tendonitis for several months now. The tendonitis for 2 years!!!
I am now experiencing severe numbness in my left arm that wakes me up. The pain is so severe, I cannot sleep. I went to a chiropractor last week at the reccomendation of a friend and the neck pain has improved, but the numbness is seeming to be worse. I think I will try the B12, but in all honesty, I would like to find a way to sleep.....any other suggestions.

It's been three weeks since I my hands started burning. Then the burning left my right hand and started going up my left arm. It gets worse at night or when I'm cold. I saw a sports medicine Dr.,a chiroprator, and a neurologist. They all say that I probably have a virus. I also feel it on my feet. I have also done the blood tests and x-rays and still no answers. I was getting better but its starting to come back. I'm a healthy 27 year old female. Its so weird.

That is so weird, I have the exact same problem (at least it sounds that way) as Sharon Hitchcock. 2 years ago it started with my right index finger (which is now always very swollen and aches) my thumb and middle finger on the right hand now have bony nodules but recently my feet (both ) left hand and wrists are all extremely sore (esp after being still) and swell. This pain lasts all day and sometimes makes it very difficult to hold things and walk. I too am 35!! Any ideas?

I too am suffering from a burning, tingling feeling in my arms and legs. My hands are now at the stage where I have got what I can only describe as muscle wastage. This feeling has since moved to my back. After months I have finally got an appointment with a Specialist. It would be just nice to know what it is as it is really getting me down. The problem started in my neck. Even tried acupunture which up to now is'nt working.....I too am only 35..

I have burning in my left foot every night from MS when I try to sleep. i have found that soaking my foot in cold Noni juice really helps relieve the pain so I can sleep, expensive but worth it. I also find that avoiding sugar and spicy foods helps too. I am trying royal jelly as of today which contains B5 so I am hoping that will help also and give me energy.

I had burning in my lower back for over 3 years. Tried everything, it was dibaliting, couldn't do anything longer than 2 hours, then I would be down for the rest of the day. I did back exercise program for 30 days straight, didn't seem to do much. Many herbs, no help. Arthritis medicine for a month, absolutely no difference. Went to Chiropractor, at first it helped then it didn't seem to do anything and I was getting worse. My back pain was so bad that I was only out of pain if I laid down. If I had to turn over, it would be painful. Finally I went to my doctor because I thought I had a disk problem. He wasn't sure either but thought I may have a inflamation of the Siatic Nerve, I had ruled that out because it had been going on for over three years. He purscribed cataflam. He gave me 50 pills, 3 times a day. I have taken them form 2 weeks and I can't believe it. I have no more pain, I can now do everything I did before. I can't believe that an inflamation can last for 3 long years. I feel like a new person and I'm 54 years old. I just want anyone considering surgery to ask their doctor about this possiblity.

I have had burning in my feet and hands, followed by numbness and or tingling pain. I am a diabetic, and I do have carpel tunnel syndrom in my right hand. It seems like over the past three months, my fingers are going numb one or two at a time. I have not been diagnosed, but to my dismay I am relatively sure that it is nueropathy. I am unaware of medications available. Are there meds that can make me more comfortable? Alas, I am getting older. Could it be arthritis?

Linda - How long have you been diabetic, about hold are are you, and what is your A1c score? If you've been diabetic for more than a few years, and your HbA1c is high, chances are it's nueropathy. I have had diabetes for 10 years with pretty good A1c's, but also have developed nueropathy.

RE: Comment added by John on 2/12/04This sounds very similar to my situation. My doctor has said peripheral neuropathy. My research has shown that one type can be caused by B12 deficiency.
See: http://www.dietsexercise.com/vitamin-B12-text.htm and http://www.dietsexercise.com/vitamin-B12-text2.htm and also http://www.nyheadache.com/B12.html What type of B12 was being taken? I know that there are more than one kind. Is this the methylcobalamin form? Any problems with taking that degree of folic acid? Also - RE: Comment added by trishb on 1/19/04 - I work in energetic medicine (using a scenar device). it sounds like a lot of you have peripheral neuropathy. i have treated this with great success, so don't get discouraged.
Great news! That's what my doctor has said in my case, that I have PN, though it is NOT diabetic induced as I am not even pre-diabetic but only "slightly glucose imbalanced".... Stress related? Due to previous neck surgeries performed (2)? How does one get particulars on this treatment? Not just general information, but specific procedures on the treatment???

I'm 30, and I have developed chronic pain in my hands, and some aching in other joints. My hands in particular feel very hot, even to the touch, much of the day; I often seek out any cool surface to place them on for relief everywhere I go, and just lately they have felt begun to feel stiff/swollen much of the time. I've also started to feel "sensitive spots" on the palms of my hands that are uncomfortable to any extreme of hot or cold, and when this happens, I know that my hands will start aching badly later that day. I've had some chronic pain over the last couple of years and numbness/tingling in extremities, tested negative for MS about a year ago. The pain in my hands, tenderness, and hot feeling seems to have accelerated to a much more constant level just recently, and I'm concerned. Any ideas?

My left hand falls asleep continually every night and wakes me up about every hour,..also once the pins and needles dissipate, there is a burning sensation,.sometimes this take 1/2 or more to go away upon waking.
I may have Rheumatoid Arthritis although I've tested negative for the RA factor three times. My doctor thinks I may be what's called "serum-negative" or may have what's called Pallindromic Rheumatism.
In any case,..the pins and needles only started about a month ago,..and at first I didn't put it together, but I believe it is being caused by my blood pressure med, Lisinopril. I am calling my doctor to get off of this as I have also heard it can cause peripheral neuropathy.Anyone else on BP meds? ACE Inhibitors? They can cause this syndrome as well.

I also get relief by placing them on something cold. Now I am getting really uncomfortable pains in my joints, especially in my legs and fingers (sometimes the pain almost seems to be buzzing!!). I am getting night sweats and I also have low blood pressure. Unfortunately because I am 50 my Doctor thinks my menopause is causing me extra problems. Who would be a woman!!!!!!!

I am a heart patient. I had open heart surgery which was very successful (aneurysm on left main artery). I have had blockages since, but closely monitored by heart specialist. Also had brain aneurysm medically succesfully with apparently no bad side affects. At 62 menapause. During this time, I began to experience the burning sensations in my legs, especially higher part of legs. Then I could not lift my left leg to get into the car. So I had physical therapy which helped but I had lost about 50% usage of my leg. My arms became so painful I would try to paint or do physicl work and the next day I paid the price with severe pain and swelling. I have tried many medications for relief. They would swwm to help temporarily, but not very long. I took liquid vitamines, a daily vitamine, Coral Calcium Surpreme which did help for sometime and even now I can tell some effect. I have used Coated Aspirn, and Ibuprofen. I had the nerveous leg syndrom where I couldn't sit still. I would have to walk. I am back to act one, walking everyday from 1-3 miles which is helpful and keeps me from ending up in a wheelchair. I have had more than one MRI and my dr. knows I am in pain. I have Migraine headaches since menapause and the medication (Butalbital/APAP/Caff tabs)I take stops the pain. However, these I use only for headaches because I don't want them to become where they don't work for my headaches. I question if this is a migraine type pain in parts of the body, other than headaches. It is really the only thing I have taken that would stop it. From the health food stores Zyflamend has helped with pain and inflamation. A very good message therapist helped me with the stiffness and recommended walking and I am faithful to walking daily. Everything else is on hold now until I walk. This seems to help tremendously, even though there is some stiffness, inflamation (hot to touch), pain and swelling. I think I have almost tried it all including much prayer for relief, in fact prayer first, but I have not given up and I encourage all of those suffering to realize many more than I thought is suffering with the same excruciating pain.

Further to my previous comment, I decided to try B12 and couldn't believe how quickly my symptoms improved. I took one tablet with food for 3 days and can't believe how quickly the pain and burning eased. Just in case it was 'all in my head' I stopped taking the B12 for 24 hours as an experiment and yesterday morning the pain was back again. I took another B12 and today I am back to normal again (pain free). Today I am going to decorate the Utility Room.... something I wouldn't have attempted a week ago. IT IS CERTAINLY WORTH TRYING B12 TABLETS BECAUSE IT MIGHT WORK FOR YOU!!!! Good Luck

I also have tingling, burning, and numbness in my feet and hands. I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis. I had severe pain with the rheumotoid arthritis which is now under control with remicade. But the fibromyalgia is very different. Mine affects me from one elbow across the shoulders and neck and on to the other elbow. I have extreme fatigue. If I left anything over a few ounces in weight I will get a feeling of extreme heaviness in my arms and pain in my neck which sometimes causes a migraine. I have been told that the tingling can go along with prednisone which I take for the fibromyalgia. I am currently on about 10 different meds and some of the side effects include burning, tingling and numbness. I would encourage you to make an appointment with a rheumatologist to see if you have fibromyalgia.
Comment added by Donna on 8/22/04
I also wanted to add that Clonazepam helps somewhat with the tingling and numbness. Fibromyalgia is a disease that is very resistant to pain meds and other treatments and it really sounds like alot of you have this disease. I am now 56 but in retrospect I know that I have had it for many years, just not enough to send me to the doctor. Again - I strongly recommend some of you seeing a rheumatologist.

I had a painful nodule come up on the middle joint of the ring finger of my left hand. It had fever in it and was very tender at first. About 6-8 weeks later, now it is not tender, but is still raised and red. About 2 weeks ago, a burning sensation began on the outer edge of my hand (near my pinkie finger) and down my arm to the elbow. It felt like I had burned myself, but it was not red. This week The middle joint of my pinkie (same hand) is swollen and burning/painful. The joint below it on that finger and the wrist joint is also now painful. This pain does not seem to be induced by exertion. Does anybody have any insight into what might be happening with my fingers/wrist/arm? I don't recall any injuries to this area.
Comment added by Dianeq on 8/23/04
I have had muscle pain in various joints and areas of my body, have had many tests which were all negative. This started when I was 23. I was diagnosed as having Fibromyalgia much later. There are specific criteria such as trigger points on the body that helps confirm this. It often starts after a tramatic event such as Pregnancy, a car accident, etc. Fibromyalgia has its ups and downs. Some days are pretty good and others very painful. I have not had a pain-free day. Stress, overfatigue and too much physical activity can make it worse. You need to balance exercise with rest. I have found that massage therapy plus a medication regiment of Elavil, Paxil, Magnesium, and a pain reliever such as Vioxx and LorTabs or Utram help the pain. You also need a good sleep cycle and that Elavil is good for this. Most MD's are not up to date on Fibromyalgia and you should be seeing a Rheumatologist who can set-up a protocol of medication, etc. for you. Women are more prone to FM. I did read somewhere that thyroid problems can cause burning feet. I have the symptoms also and do have thyroid disease. All of you might want to get your thyroid checked.

Seems like there are so many people out there all going through similar sufferings and not knowing why. I was wondering if any of you may also have ganglions on either your feet or wrists. Also, do you have a hypersensitive nervous system, brisk reflexes, a staggering gait, balance & coordination problems, problems with word finding or stuttering and a feeling of internal vibrations. I also hear sounds in my head such as elastic bands snapping. This is all in addition to the burning pain and numbness in my hands and feet and left sided weakness. Nothing has shown up in the medical clinical testing to date, three MRI's, two EMG's and one EEG, besides a psychiatric assessment. At least he certified I wasn't depressed or crazy and these symptoms of debilitating chronic burning pain 24/7, which is much worse at night, are very real to me and impact on my quality of life.

I also have pain most of the time. I try to keep my chin up but sometimes it is very hard to do. I had a positive ANA 638 last month which is never the same when i am tested any where from 160 to 638 - - my hands stay extremely hot - mostly after I use them for normal everyday chores -- I do give in and take pain meds when i feel like i am going to scream with pain -- of course i never do. i am 52 years old, married 33 years to a very understanding man as you can see my train of thought is not great either. i have been to many doctors 3 doctors said i have lupus, and fibromyalgia. not any of the doctors i have seen over the past 15 years have been able to explain my hot hands and feet and i do mean HOT dipping them in cool water does help but only for about 5 minutes if the water is too cold it hurts them too i have taken alot of different drugs and none has helped much -- I think I have said enough I think guys can understand how I must feel I would like a cure but for now I will keep reading and searching for some answers -- we can never give up -- I am preaching to myself and hope to encourge you not to give up with your search for help. Reading The Bible and Prayer is a comfort to me. I have many sleepless nights -- sometimes my hands hurt too much to hold my Bible so I pray. I don't understand why this is happening to me but I do know God does care about me and you. Am I any better than Christ - Look what He suffered on the cross. I try to keep my focus off my pain and on Him. It is hard to do at times because we are only human Bible study and prayer do help maybe it will help you too.

Hey-I understand so many of these posts-I recently went from a very full schedule to a disabling joint and bone inflammation that for 4 weeks-it has been ROUGH-anyway, an MRI of the brain showed a "possible" tumor in the pituitary-however the hormonelevels are not affected completely as a tumor would do. I definitely have a pituitary failure which has blocked the production of testosterone-so I have been on hormone replacement x 10 days and getting stronger. The bone pain has lessened but the burning in the hands and feet is very distracting-swelling is much less though-if you are male-have the testosterone free and total checked-make sure whoever you are toinsist the MD check your FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) and LH (Lutenizing hormone) and thyroid function (TSH)-these will give direct results as to whether your pituitary gland is functioning. Also remember that inflammatory responses are indicative of Auto-immune disorders (lupus) or other reactions (Lymes). Good luck folks.

I've been experiencing limb and digit numbness for the past year. My arms have been numb and tingling in the morning for several years but I always attributed this to sleep positions since it only happens when I am waking. I usually shake it off within a few seconds and the circulation and feeling comes back. Last year I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes 2 but my sugar quickly fell to acceptable levels (98-107 ml in the morning before meals and 125-145 ml after) after a change of diet and a little exercise (prior to this my sugar had been fine. I'm 43 yo). I was basically eating too much and too late at night because of a sedentary job part-time job I had at the time (taxi driver). While on diabetes meds, I started to experience numbness in my pinkie toes and then burning on my legs. The numbness has spread to at least part of the next toe and some of the soles of both feet. Then earlier this year, I felt numbness and swelling in my hands. A small part of the back of my hands between the pinkie and the ring finger has little feeling. I've also experienced dizziness and balance problems, increased heartrate, low blood pressure, rapid weight gain and fatigue.I've had just about every blood test. My foot doctor told me to see a neurologist and my mom mentioned a Doppler test and maybe an MRI. My PCP mentioned MS or MD.
I've read some of the other testamonials and it sounds like we're all suffering from something similar but maybe with different causes. Any suggestions you or anyone else from this forum have would be greatly appreciated. My email is eeleyebrown@yahoo.com

Im 41-experiencing same-no diabetes-have your docs check your testosterone free and total-LH,Thyroid function, and FSH-these will check your pituitary function-also ask hin to check for Lymes Disease -once these are ruled out as a problem-move on to Neurologist tests EMG which checks nerve conduction/circulation-good luck

sounds like Restless Leg Syndrome. Many people have it I was reading on web.
My problem is that my palms feel like they are 100 degrees or more hot. My husband won't even hold my hand at times. My feet and legs do the same thing especially at night. I can't find anything in my search that sounds like these symtoms. Some nights I get up and run cold water on my feet for a minute and then I can sleep. WHAT COULD THIS BE PLESE.

This is so widespread. The suffering is enormous. Personally, I'm starting to suspect that we are being poisoned by the environment. It is not normal for so many of us (& so young ) to be in so much pain. I feel despair. Nothing works for long. It feels like an electrical storm sometimes. Exercise, no exercise, makes no difference. Magnesium will take the edge off it sometimes.

The post before mine, from Mary, intrigued me. Seems there are so many of us suffering the same symptoms. I have fibro but have just recently started having the numbness and tingling of my hands with burning pain that is much worse in the mornings. That's why I'm here. I had similar problem with just my right arm and had spine surgery on C6/7 that helped. I'm hoping that I don't need to go through that again, so I was wondering what else could be causing it. There are a lot of people in pain but not many answers.

I don't think our doctors always understand the severity of our chronic pain. My life of pain started abruptly one day two years ago. I got up one morning, had a near-fainting episode - just froze up mentally, and developed severe pain in my leg muscles, bones, and feet. A mixed batch of pain in the muscle that I can only describe as stinging/burning, sharp prickling like glass imbedded, a pulled muscle feel, achiness, gnawing, and stinging/burning soles of feet.Along with all this, extreme fatigue, just dead plain wiped out even with lots of sleep. And phases of low blood pressure, woozy/heavy/unsteady feeling that can come on suddenly even without any stress. It has completely impacted my life. I suffer with it alone, because I don't want to be vulnerable in my job. People with these disorders are often regarded as being anxious, and people who do not understand may say it is all in our heads. When I first experienced all this, I felt like I wanted to escape somewhere, to just chop off the legs to rid my body of the pain. It felt like it all needed to be squeezed out of my body. Of course we have anxiety. Who wouldn't with chronic pain and no relief. I have found a very good website "PainOnline" that discusses Central Pain. It's a problem with the way a region in our brain processes pain information. If you haven't seen that yet, I suggest you do. Researchers have done studies on rats, where they produced lesions (damage to neurons) in pain-processing centers in the rat's brains and produced a chronic pain syndrome in the animal. The rats would even attempt to chew off their own legs in an attempt to rid their body of the pain. That is how I felt, even before I became aware of such a thing. Stroke, chemical/toxins can be a couple of things that damage neurons in the brain. Perhaps this is the basis behind much of our suffering. Unfortunately, because pain carries with it a subjective component, we can only hope to find the care of a physician who is knowledgeable about chronic pain, and sympathetic to our suffering. We're normal people who want to return to healthy lives. However, I will say, that my chronic pain has given me something I didn't have before the pain, maybe it's something as great as grace. The grace to accept my circumstances, to keep going and enjoying the life God's given me, to not quickly judge people and to simply care more.I try to find the good in my chronic pain, and there is some. I'm 38, and don't know what the future holds for my health. Each day I feel like I'm on the edge of possibly falling into something I can't recover from. It's a scary feeling to live that way. I try not to think about it. Some days I feel so sick with pain and fatigue that I think I'm close to that edge. Then I have a good day that restores hope. My advice to you all: keep yourselves informed and be your strongest supporter. Don't let doctors tell you it's nothing. Just because the lab tests are unremarkable does not mean that there's nothing wrong in your body. Tell your physicians in very clear, articulate words that your pain is significant.

I also have the pain and burning in my feet, ankles, chins, and hands (with swollen joints in hands). Every test so far negative. I am hypoothyroid, and my levels were low; adjusted medication and seems to be getting a LITTLE better. I also have a rash on my face. From what I've read, it could be your thyroid, it could be candiasis infection (too much yeast as a result of too many antibiotics); it also could be a virus according to my rheumatologist. He tested me for parvovirus (it was negative), but he thinks it's still possibly viral.

I was unable to read everyone's comments only because I am in a hurry, however, I've noticed many people have what I am only beginning to have. I'm young, so I too believe doctors don't always really take me seriously. It began with my stomach. They tried to diagnose me with IBS (I read another person had these kind of problems). The problem was that it was much worse than IBS and I suffered greatly because they didn't realize that to begin with. It's been only in the past few days that I've had burning on my feet. I'll also get it in various other areas (on my skin) on my body. One of them is usually around my neck area. If anyone has these sypmotoms along with stomach problems and knows what it may be (if they have anything to do with eachother) could you please respond.
Thankyou

I had Carpal Tunnel Surgery on my Right hand on July 1 this year. During the time after my surgery, I experienced excruciating pain in my shoulder, down my arm and also in my elbow. One doctor tested me positive for Ulnar nerve problems, while another ruled it out. My orthopaedic surgeon for my CT sent me for an MRI of my Cervical Spine, this showed arthritis in my neck as well as some bulging disks at C5-C6. Nothing which they even batted an eye about...I have had two separate EMG's and another one done with the needles! OUCH!!! The docs say I am a puzzle. I also started having waves of numbness and tingling which would start in my face and graduate down my arms, hands, legs and get worse in my knees and the bottoms of my feet. It doesn't matter what I am doing, they just OCCUR! Docs question me about stress, or whether I might be having panic attacks? Give me a break! I've seen two Neurologists, the first said I was a puzzle and put me on Gabitril, diagnosing me with Paresthesias. It did not work. I got in to see a second Neurologist she was also puzzled. She diagnosed it also as Paresthesias until I got the results of a Brain MRI she ordered to rule out MS. I just got the results, and they say it is not MS. So what is it? This Neurologist put me on Neurontin, 300 mg/day. I am to work up to 900 mg/day in 3 weeks time. Thus far, and it is early in the game for my taking it, I don't feel any differently! I feel lethargic, my legs sometimes feel as though they can't carry me when I try to walk a short distance. It is affecting everything I normally do around the house. I am not back to work yet, thank God! Yes, it does get worse in the evenings, right before bed. It used to come and go, now it stays with me longer, sometimes all day long. My tongue even feels numb at times and the prickling is getting far worse than when it started. I am a female, 43 yrs old and I feel at least 80 some days. At its worse times, I cannot stand for anyone to even bother me and definitely cannot stand to even have someone touch me. I sure as heck would like to find out what on earth is wrong with me. It's unreal something could just come on like this has to me and I gather many of the others on this message board.Any ideas? I am about nuts with this. Thanks!

My 2 daughters have schleroderma. It is an inherited disease.Hands and toes, the skin tightens and cells slowely die. The skin on the face also turns one into an old persons skin. Cells inside die in advanced stages. My girls are 28 & 32 and thankfully their problem is slow growing so far. They have no pain but I can see their hands turning into claws slowly. The disease can come on at any stage in life. Not too much is known about it in NZ that we can find. If anyone has any other infomation for me I would appreciate it. Thanks

The key is researching yourself the best method for you to deal with these problems as others will never understand.

I am at a point now where I can hardly stand up. The pain in my feet and legs has now spread throughout my bones. In the last two weeks I have gotten where I cannot walk. I feel like my foot is broken as well as my leg. The tingling, burning, and throbbing pain is horrible and getting worse by the day. I will be going to many specialists I am sure, as I cannot take this pain any longer. I am a woman in my 40's and feel like I will be cripled from this within the next couple of months. Prayer, physicians and more prayer.

I have been seeing a specialist during this past year I am getting burning, swelling, first it started in one hand and now in both hands all day. At night I am getting numbness. Sleeping with writs bands.
Doctor tried all different types anti-imflamatory pills did not work. Crotosone shots in my fingers did not work. Blood works & xrays show no arthritis.
Has anyone experience this please let me know. My doctor tells me its not carpal tunnel because carpal tunnel has pain only in three fingers not the whole hand.

My mom too has severe burning in her feet. She describes it as her veins fell as though they are on fire.Even in Winter she has to wear sandals because the burning is severe. She has been diagnosed with cronic fatigue syndrome, years ago.She also has thyroid problems, diagnosed years ago.The doctors never found a cure for her problem-she has lived with this for years. My heart goes out to those of you who too are suffering with seemingly end in sight.I've noticed very recently, that when I stand up my feet really hurt-almost like their swollen but they arent.I suspected something in my diet but sort of ignored it because it is still bearable.Today at work I feel the same pain-this time it prohibits me from walking normally.I'm going to start a food journal to see what I may be ingesting that could be causing the problem.I feel as some have said, that it could be something we are eating or drinking.I would encourage other's of you to do the same.Really begin charting everything you injest-note how you feel by day and see if you see a pattern forming.

For the past 2 months I wake up during the night and my hands up through my wrists are "asleep". There is no redness, just numbness and swelling. There are nights when I do not experience it at all. I've had no back inuries, etc. I have worked on computers for at least 22 years of the 40 I've been alive. Does anyone think it's likely I have carpel Tunnel. My hands and wrists do not hurt or fall asleep or go numb any other time than during sleep.

Mia -I also was diagnosed with IBD years ago and have burbibg and painful hands and feet. I have not been diagnosed yet, but I am thinking it might be Celiac disease or gluten intolerance. This can cause a whole host of symtpoms, from diarrhea, set., to bone pain. Here's a couple of websites to chaek out:

http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3856I am going to try a gluten-free diet and see if it works. There are also some blood tests for this, but many people get false negatives, especially if they are only gluten intolerant.

I have numbness and pain through my shoulder blades and down my arms into my shoulder joint elbow joints, wrists and hands. The pain started only when i would lie down, when I got up and walked around it would eliviate the pain. It still helps with the pain after alot of movement, but the pain is now present through the entire day and very severe when I lie down or go to sleep at night.
1600 mg of motrin does not seem to even touch the pain any more.
I am going to start a regime of juicing to see if it helps.

I have read every comment on this page and know were you are all coming from.Four years ago my 10 year old son was going through the same thing. We went from doctor to doctor with no luck. Finally we found a doctor 7 months later that diagnosed him with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. He was in a wheelchair by the time he was diagnosed. His doctor put him on morphin, his pain was so severe, even the slighest breeze gave him severe pain.He was put on 3600mg of Neurontin, for pain also.He was also put on antidepresents because he was so depressed from going from being very active to bed ridden. He is 14 now and is almost back to normal. He still has a few bad days, but not often. There is a great book named LIVING WITH RSDS byLinda Lang & Peter Moskovitz,MD it explains alot about RSD and treatment.Any one who would like to corespond with me at my e-mail staceywstbrk@hotmail.com feel free to.

Wow!I started the the folic acid and B12 treated noted in the mail above and it gave me some relief to my pain (first time in seven years).
I have pain in both feet, hands, fingers and toes. I experience burning shins and thighs. Recently it had spread to my joints (hip, knees and wrist). Last couple of weeks it was difficult to walk. Since starting the folic acid and B12 a remarked releif. Thanks.

Hello out there, I am 23 years old. My hands, wrist and arms and neck hurt. My mom has Carpal Tunnel. I took an Emg test recently and came out negative. However the hand specialist told me that I've worn out my grip. I Cant lift no more than 5 lbs. My Right Hand grip is 10 and my left one is 5. The specialist said that he seen a man without 2 fingers have a better grip. And 80 year old woman has a better grip. I feel so depressed, I am too young to be like this. My mom has had carpal tunnel for 9 years her grip is almost the same maybe hers is one or more higher than mine.. Is there a possible way we inherit this?>???My nerves are irritated especially on the left hand. What other tests would help me determine how irritated they are?

I suffer burning feet ocassionally during the day, but mostly at night even to tohe point that I am awaken from my sleep. I also suffer occasional numbness and tingleing in my right arm and hand. I have wondered for months what the problem can be. i thoght the foot pain could be associated withthe type of shoes I wear, heels most of the time. I did not think the burning in my feet and numbnes in my hands to be connected until I read many of th comments above. I am also surprised to see that so many of us are suffering similar symptoms. I find it discouraging that many of the problems have gone undiagnosed, but I will seek comfort and cure throut B12, folic acid and diet. Thannks to all of you for your comments. I will be in constant prayer that a proper diagnosis can be found and that a cure will be forthcoming. God's blessings to all of you. For by HIS stipes we are healed!!

My mother is 73 years old and suffers from burning senation on both her feet and hands. She is a diabetic and also has thyroid problems, but doctors have not diagnosed her problem with her hands and feet. She is in constant pain and cries all the time because of her pain. Reading through the comments I am also surprised to see so many people that suffer similar symptoms, why can't doctors diagnosed a cure or help with some kind of relief. On several comments I noticed the use of B12 and Folic acid could give one some form of relief, does anyone know the dosage one can take on both B12 and Folic acid.
Thanks for your comments and sharing with us your thoughts. God Bless and hope a diagnosis will be found.

I feel for all of you great sympathy. I've been misdiagnosed with fibromyalgia(and it seems there is no cure),then diagnosed with spasmophilie and auto-imune rheumatism and arthritis. I've been hoping accupuncture would help, but it does not seem to work. I've been given an anti-malaria medication to kill the bad anti-bodies,medication for inflammation.... Yet, I plan to make a blood test to check if there are no toxins in my blood....and plan to go to a kinesilogist...for, I am loosing confidence in doctors.

Does anyone think that drinking diet soda and using artificial sweetners has contributed or even caused our burning feet? could there be a link there?
Comment added by Barbara H on 10/16/04
I have read most of these comments and I know for sure that these symptoms are not those of chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia. I am a massage therapist and I see many patients with fibromyalgia. I do know one thing for sure, most of us are too young to be experiencing these types of problems, I believe it has something to do with either the environment or something we are ingesting. I am amazed that no one (i.e. Drs.) can come up with a clear diagnosis. I know my insurance co. has spent thousands of dollars on myself alone to try and figure out what I have and what is the cause. I'm not giving up on trying to find out more about what we all are experiencing.

Jackie, have you tried doing research on the internet about the effects of drinking soft drinks? Do you drink the diet type? If so try researching the effects of all the artificial sweetners. I have patients who were in extreme undiagnosed pain for years, and when they stopped ingesting all artificial sweetners and soft drinks and sugar products, their pain disappeared within weeks. What do you think?

Today I spoke with a man who has done research on this problem. He said that it is chemical exposure and drinking any kind of soda pop that is causing nerve damage in the hands and feet resulting in burning pain and numbness. He said whatever damage thats already been done from these substances will remain, but you can stop further damage by stopping the intake of sodas, and keeping away from household chemicals or other chemical exposure. Read lables on the foods and drinks you put into your body.hope this has been somewhat helpful. I stopped drinking pop, started to feel a tiny bit better, then had a pop after 1 week and my feet are really bad again.

I've scanned all the above and found some people who seem to be suffering the same symptoms as I: pain in my left groin and anterior (top) of thigh. During the day it goes away most of the time. The night is what is horrible. I awaken 1-2 hours after going to bed with terrible pain , esp. when I move any part of my body. I cannot find a comfortable position. I've gone from not being a pillow user to having about 5 of them around me. Sometimes I can go back to sleep if I prop myself up on the pillows. During these night episodes it hurts to even touch the skin of my thigh. I'm tired and tired of this. Have seen my internist, a physical therapist and a chiropractor. Nothing seems to help. This all started one day almost 5 months ago. Help!

I am 93 and for the last 6 years, after a bout with Shingles I developed burning on the outer part of my legs.
It feels like a heating pad on hot all the time. It has also developed on top of my head and across one breast.
It is driving me crazy. I have been to doctors who just want to give me a tranquelizer. They think it is old age and because I can walk around ok and am very spry they just say live with it...others your age are worse off.
Any suggestions?

My feet burn and tingle every evening always when I start to relax. I'm a painter and fireman and spend a lot of time standing on ladders. This started about when I turned 50 and I,m 52 now. I've gone to a neurolagist but he was baffled and was little help. I was tested for diabedies but it came out negative. Other than this burning and tingling feet at night I'm quite healthy. Does anyone have any idea whats's going on and how to cure it?

I am currently researching for a patient of mine and ran across this page. Many of the complaints that are spoken about here can be dealt with chiropractically. A number of complaints seem hormone related and others are due to mineral imbalances. Some sound quite serious and appropriate testing should be done. I am a chiropractor who also does natural medicine. I am in California, but use labs all over the country for specific testing. There is hope for many of you, you just need direction. Most of you guys are just crying out for help but there is no one out there who is responding. So far I have figured out that the best thing to to is to take supplements since some of you had relief more especially with vit B12. My symptoms are endless and I have done all the tests incl.HIV but all came negative. I am at the stage where I really doubt myself as to whether I really do have HIV since it can mimic peripheral neuropathy, but all my tests are negatives. Recently I have done a sleep apnea test as my breathing is affected as well but still waiting for the results. I also experience all of the above symptoms including crawling movements more especially in my head and buzzing in my ears. Doctors Ohh please forget them. I hate my rheumatologist so much because he is very arrogant and besides he does not know what I'm going through other than pocketing my money without any results. Good luck to all of you and all you have to do is to draw strength from God, if it was not for my faith I would have fallen in a hip.

In the seven months since I got carpal tunnel from an injury at work I developed buning up both arms. A month and a half ago the buning went from the middle of my shins to my knees, groin, hips, base of neck and face also. The pain was so intense I couldn't sleep and walked around at night. My Dr. ran blood work and the antinuclear antibody test was high and now he is running other tests like SS-a, SSb Scl-70... Your site here is the only place in 7 months where I have seen other people have symptoms like mine. Sad, but validating that it is not in my head.

I have had a pain or two in the past in either my feet or hands. I have also had pain in my knee from a large knot which my husband called a bone spur. I have also experienced some pain and numbness in my hands, from index around to thumb - mostly. My feet and expecially the heels would hurt for a few days every three or four months. On August 26th I broke my left foot in two places, the cast was removed about three weeks ago, and now I have not had a normal night of sleep since then. I hurt every night. I hate for evening to come. When I lay down the tops of my feet, toes, and up my legs hurt so bad that it is impossible to sleep. My hands feel crippling in the joints, especially between the index and thumb. My ankles are excrutiatingly painful. When I get out of bed and try to walk, it is like I'm waling on glass. But once I get dressed and go to work (7th grade teacher), it doesn't hurt during the day. My feet do get tingling feelings during the day, but not the burning pain, just at night. My hands hurt some during the day, but severely at night. I am slightly overweight, but please help, I am taking medicine to sleep, and medicine to wake up...........

I am taking prednisone along with several other medications (to protect me from the prednisone) I, like alot of you am suffering from burning in the palms of my hands. They get so red that people ask me how I burned them, and it is so painful I can't hardly stand it. My rheumatologist said that it was caused from depression and wants me to take prozac....does that sound normal? I don't feel depressed!! I sure don't want to take any medicine that is not necessary.

Gloria, I'm not a Dr. but, I have never heard of depression causing burning hands, I would certainly get another opinion, If you dont feel depressed then you're not depressed, Health care practioners dont give people enough credit for knowing whats happening in their own minds and bodies, After all, you're the one living in there. Follow your intuition. And as for prozac and all those other mind/mood altering drugs, I wouldnt touch that crap with a ten foot pole. Have you ever read the contraindications from some of these meds the Drs. prescribe? It is scary to say the least, and some side effects can be deadly.

I have just developed painful wrists and ankles. My skin "hurts" too. I must agree with Dr Joel as I believe some of the above symptoms are due to hormones as I have in the last 2 weeks had to stop breastfeeding.(I am also led to believe we can have painful skin due to infection)
Comment added by Adene on 11/8/04
Responding to Gloria. It does seem like no matter what your symptoms are, the first thing doctors want to give you nowdays is an anti-depressant. Over the past 7 months I have had lots of, burning pain, fever, loss of coodination, messurable nerve damage and pain, possitive ANA tests... My family doctor has not given be anything to treat the symptoms, but has tried three anti depressants. Well, DUHHHH. With all these symptoms and pain and loosing my carrer because I can't hold onto things... of course I have been a BIT depressed, but if the doctors would diagnoses me and treat my pain and symptoms maybe, just maybe, I wouldn't be depressed. An anti depressant sure isn't going to reverse my injury or cure my nerve damage or take away my fever or help me walkor hold onto things, but it has added to my pain. The lexapro gave me glacoma while I was using it, the zolof sent me to the hospital with hives and my throat closing and kidneys shut down and the effexor is what triggered my walking difficulties and increased the burning to include my head. I let my doctor know and told him no more anti depressants, they make me to depressed.I think you are wise to not take the Prozac unless you are so depressed by your symptoms that you are suicidal, but even then, becareful, as Prozac has acctually be linkes to increased suicide attempts. I find going to a counslor to help me sort out my feeling about all the symptoms, pain and other related stuff to my as yet mystery illness has been a lot better than anti depressants

I have this burning, tingling sensations in both of my arms and hands. It does it mostly in the evenings. I am a diabetic, but not on insulin. I take avandia and glucovance each day. I could have some type of nerve damage or neuropathy. I have a good checkup every three months and all my labs have come back good. My a1c was 8.0 this last time and i know i need to get this down some. I get real scare when my arms and hands does this. The first time it did it was almost three years ago and then again in Feb.2004. Now is has started again and has been doing it for the last couple of months. I lost my husband a year ago and i had been under a lot of stress before his death and have been since his death. I don't know if that has any thing to do with it or not, but I do need to check with my doctor concerning this. I take toprol for high blood pressure and it is doing fine. Please give me some advice if you can. I would appreciate it. Thanks Johnnie. I am a 62 year old female.

I have been having burning pains in my elbows since they blew iron IV's up in my arms 4 years ago. Also have been having pains in right shoulder radiating down to elbows and 2 index fingers. Dr just looks at me like I am stupid and gives me pain medicine. I just want some other kind of help for the pain instead of medication that makes me drowsy and want to know what the pain could be.

I have read this entire thread to try and find a possible link to my sudden symptoms. This morning I woke to burning, tingling palms and bottoms of my feet. I have never felt this before nor did I have any warning. It feels as though I placed them on a hot stove. The only change in my life/diet was that I did a five day juice fast last week. I started eating again three days ago. This may be my body continually releasing toxins, OR telling me I need more hydration or nutrients. I will try B12 and get a thyroid test. 32 Female, no medical history to date.

my condition (whatever it is) is not pain but rather an aggravating sensation as though there is poor circulation from my hip to my feet. I also have been diagnosed with tennis elbow. both problems affect my right side. about 8 years ago i had xrays done and was told by the dr that do to a fall i had as a child ( i fell on concrete straight on my tail bone), i had a fracture in the spine area between L2 and L4( if my memory serves me correct)the healing process from that injury may cause a nerve to somehow be effected from time to time. I went back to the doctor recently to find out why this circulation problem won't go away. I finally got a diagnosis and it actually sounds right. There is a pinched nerve somewhere in my spine that is affecting my right side. The doctor gave my gabitril (this is for epilepsy) i'm skeptical about whether this will work or not. I am also scheduled for another EMG. Through reading the above comments i am now skeptical that any definite diagnosis and treatment will be given. Will i suffer from this indefinitely? Will it get worse?

Hi Boy do I have something to tell you all. I have had pain in my feet and burning. For 10 years I went to the Dr. He said I had spures. So I got corson shots. Then the foot Dr. said I was flatfooted so I got arch supports. Then I told my husband I can't take no more paine or the burning. So he told me I need to go to a foot Dr, in Columbus, Ohio. I did so. Found out I have sines infection in my feet. I had surgery. I fill so much better. Also found out I could have the same thing in my hands. Yes it is hard to believe. Sine's are I always thought was in your head. Will wrong. It can be in many parts of your body. Yes I am having surgery in my other foot with the same burning and pain. When you go to the Dr. bring this up. My Medical Dr. said he never even heard of sine infection in the feet. You will be surprised. Hope this helps you

Wow...I can't believe I found this place! Here's my story: Was in a car accident and had a major concussion, a few months later I came down with a screaming case of mono. Mono never really seemed to go away and then I developed the burning, pain in my hands, feet, and tip of my tongue. This has not stopped. Every morning I wake up and I am swollen and the hands, feet, and tongue hurt and burn and tingle. Now they hurt almost all the time. It is the same every day, day after day.Went to doctor, got diagnosed with possible fibromyalgia (in other words, they have no idea). MRI came back normal as did the many blood tests including those for RA and MS. Treatment for fibro is antidepressants, what a joke. Am going to see a neurologist but am pretty confident any neuropathy will be negative...just a gut feeling.
Have spent literally months trying to figure this out on my own. My guess is toxemia. Envoronmental cause. Possible mycoplasmic infection. Who knows? The only time I felt better was when I did a juice fast, so am going to try that again. Also my research shows many testimonials from people who went on an all raw vegan diet and that helped their symptoms completely. I tried the raw thing for a month but then stopped but want to try again. During this time my symptoms improved somewhat. The thing to worry about though is a healing crisis, whereby you get sicker for a bit as your body rids itself of toxins. I found lots of good info on curezone.com on cleansing. Am also taking Superfood (herbdoc.com) which is really good herbs/vitamins/minerals.
I refuse to believe that this is going to disable me and refuse to believe that I can't heal. It sure is good to see other people having similar symptoms because I don't feel so alone. I know a lot of doctors think it's all in our heads. Puh-leeze. I think it's environmental, and that cleansing can help.

I woke up one morning and starting scratching the bottom of my feet so much it turned red. This continued for about three weeks, then the burning senstations. From then, I scratched the inner parts of my thighs, also for about three weeks, followed by the burning sensations and cold.Again I scratched by back, followed by the upper part of my back;now my whole body is in pain but the worst part
is the cold (my legs mostly are like they are in a fridge) and whatever is the problem, the cold make it worse. I have been of medication for eight years but nothing has helped,I am trusting God for his devine healing. Please let us join together for God to show mercy on all of us. God bless.

If any of you believe that the burning sensations that you are experiencing is due to neuropathic pain, please try the following: Glutamine, ten grams 3 times a day. Buy this in a health shop in the powder form. Add it to juice or water. Also, ask your physician about gabapentin (Neurontin)
I hope this helps you
Comment added by Jim on 11/23/04
You can also try to "fool" your nervous system by stimulating the peripheral sensory nerves. If you rub Ben Gay or another similar ointment, you stimulate the sensory nerves near the skin. These, once stimulated, can actually inhibit the impulses in lower nerves which might be transmitting pain impulses. Do not rub these creams/ointments over the area where you feel the burning. If you did do so, nothing serious would happen. Place the ointment a few inches away from the affected area. Actually, a cooling substance like Mineral Ice (which is probably just menthol) would do the same thing. Once the skin is stimulated (either warm or cool) the effect will be to inhibit the pain receptors, those giving you the burning. I also hope this helps some of you. Be well, Jim
Comment added by Jim on 11/23/04
Rose, I just wanted to tell you that itching is a very low threshold version of pain. If you placed the Ben Gay or Mineral Ice (any of these products will work the same way) near the perimeter of the itching, they should help you a bit.
Comment added by Jim on 11/23/04
For those of you who have had this limb pain or numbness chronically and find that the glutamine, Ben Gay/Mineral Ice/etc, or Vitamin B6 (usually 50-100mg 2x/day) gives you no relief, try to seek out a physician who specializes in pain management. Using low doses of a drug called fentanyl as well as methadone (yes methadone) you might actually find some relief. You need to find a physician who is well versed in pain management. Those MD's not versed in this field will just look at you and smirk when you mention both the methadone and the fentanyl. I have seen patients suffering from the pain resultant from palmer-plantar erythrodysesthesia (hand/foot), paresthesias and neuropathies respond to these medications. Their quality of life increased dramatically. I wish you all well.

I must apologize for all of these short notes. I accidently stumbled onto your wonderful site while I was looking up another matter. I am actually reading through the notes left by many of you. I just wanted to let you know that tricyclic antidepressants, such as amitriptyline (Elavil) when used in low doses actually function as analgesics or pain killers. They are very effective for reducing pain and are frequently employed for migraine headaches. They do have side effects...changes in heart rate and conduction, dry mouth, urinary retention, etc. Again, speak with a physician who is well versed in pain management. These medications are not given for depression as the doses would be higher. They are given to stop pain.

The itching, although actually a form of pain (believe it or not) can also be caused by a histamine release due to inflammation. It is possible that Benadryl, (diphenhydramine), can relieve this symptom. Be careful, however, since the Benadryl can cause drowsiness. Be cautious if you are going to drive, operate machinery, etc. Try 12.5mg initially. If no relief, take another 12.5mg (25mg total). This dose might still put some of you to sleep. Any other antihistamine might work as well, such as chlorpheniramine, cetirizine (Zyrtec), or loratadine (Claritin). These antihistamines are known as Histamine 1 receptor antagonists. There are also Histamine 2 receptor antagonists which block H2 receptors. You all know these as Tagamet, Zantac, Pepcid, and Axid and are usually given for GERD or ulcerative conditions of the stomach. Routinely, when someone is having a hypersensitivity reaction (swelling, stridor, difficulty breathing, itching...usually associated with a drug allergy)both a H1 as well as H2 receptor antagonists are administered together to stop the reaction.
This is because the reaction can sometimes bypass the H1 or benadryl related receptor and cause a reaction through the H2 or Zantac related receptor. To prevent this both H1 and H2 are blocked. This works well with allergic related reactions. I am wondering if there might be some merit with the itching. I can not say for certain and I am not aware of any related research. But I do not think that taking 25mg of diphenhydramine and 75mg of ranitidine would hurt. Please be careful as I have seen several individuals who were allergic to benadryl and required a prescription only antihistamine to get them through their crisis.

You know Jim, all of the medications you are suggesting are dangerous and some of them highly addictive. Are you a Doctor? You shouldnt be giving medical advice. We need to find out the source of our problems and deal with them that way. we do not need to be medicating ourselves as that is just a bandaid fix, and some of the side effects from your suggested meds could even worsen the problem. It is dangerous to dispence medical advice if you are not trained in the health care field.
Comment added by Jim on 11/26/04
BH... Yes I am. Let me preface this by saying that my intentions were not to offend or anger anyone, but to educate. I believe that I mentioned that a trained pain management specialist should be consulted for their opinion. If that was not clear before, it should be now. The information presented was not so that an individual experiencing neuropathic pain could then go out and treat themselves. It was meant to inform those suffering from neuropathic pain that there are alternatives to gabapentin and there are alternatives to receiving medications which can make you sleep and decrease your functionality. You are absolutely correct in that certain medications have adverse effects. This is even more reason to consult with a pain management specialist. After a thorough physical examination and after listening to a patient's subjective description of the pain, the specialist can prescribe certain medications at doses low enough to minimize adverse effects while still able to conquer the pain. Burning and itching sensations are both conducted by pain receptors. The etiology or cause of neuropathic pain can be due to traumatic injury, enzyme deficit or to the disease process itself. The cause should definitely be pursued but until such time as it is discovered, the patient remains in pain. Also, real pain is a natural antagonist to addiction. The doses should be low enough to mask the pain while limiting the side effects. Medications can also be rotated to minimize addiction potential. Tolerance is a definite phenomenon. It is not addiction, however.
A combination of low dose medications, one of which is an NSAID (ibuprofen, naproxen, etc, could be utilized which works very effectively and minimizes side effect. All medications have side or adverse effects. What must be weighed are the risks vs benefits. Can a medication calm the pain and increase one's quality of life. Yes. I have seen a 19 year old female who had such neuropathic pain in her legs that she was unable to walk. The cause was due to chemotherapeutic agents she received to treat a cancer. Glutamine, a neutraceutical and not a drug, was administered. After 5 weeks this same young lady was dancing in the nurses station. Truly remarkable. Another 17 year old who has extensive neuropathy secondary to an enzyme disorder was placed on low dose fentanyl and methadone. Again low enough to cover the pain while minimizing the adverse effects. He is able to continue school and can now continue to play his musical instrument in a symphony.I wish you all well in your endeavors. My motive was not to upset you but to try to guide at least some of you to solutions which might actually benefit you during what must be very trying times. There are other avenues as well, e.g., TENS, biofeedback and meditation. You should keep a diary, noting how the pain waxes and wanes with time, body position, etc. Discuss this with your physician. If you are not getting relief or you are suffering from adverse effects such as drowsiness, mental confusion or sleepiness then by all means please do yourself a favor and consult a pain management specialist. They will listen to you and can titrate medication (if need be)to conquer your pain while minimizing adverse effects. I wish you well.

My doctor couldn't tell me the problem.I have trouble sleeping and when I get out of bed in the morning I feel like a 90 year old.Iam 51.The pain and stiffness is all the time.I keep quite about how I feel because I feel everyone thinks I just complain. I can't believe that there are so many others who are expereniceing the same problems. But I to wonder why there is no medical expert who has come up with what we have.

Jim, Thanks for clarifying that you are a Dr.,do you have a website we can visit? I am always concerned when someone gives med advice over the net, as there are people who are either too trusting or desperate enough to follow it. I know desperation from this pain can cause us to try anything as most of us are at the end of our ropes with this. It is always wise however to not only see a Dr., get a second opinion and do research on this for ourselves so we can have some semblance of control over our treatment. And research the meds so we can decide if the risks are too high.

Suggestion for burning feet. Have you been tested for Tarsal Tunnel? A neurologist can do this. Not many people know about Tarsal Tunnel. It's like Carpel Tunnel on your wrist, Tarsal tunnel is on your feet. For those taking Neurontin, be careful with this drug. I was taking it and it threw me into a deep depression. It wasn't until I quit taking it that I realized what was happening. To make sure it was neurontin that did it I tried it again sometime after I had quit taking it and sure enough, it did it again. Good Luck to everyone. I have fibromyalgia so I know what it's like to live in pain. I also had Tarsal Tunnel.

For four months already I had pain in both shoulder and weakness in legs. If I sit on the flour I cannot get up because my arms feel to painful and weak.I have already visited six doctors, have an MRI done and some blod analysis, but no real diagnose had been made. One said is ostoporosis, another degeneration due to age (70). Another reumatic myalgia - ostoporosis arthrities - I have taken the pain keeler baxtrax - ultracet cortisone - but still I'm feeling the same. Is there some analysis that can determine for sure what I have. I feel terrible, because is like falling in a cycle pattern - while in drugs I get relief from pain but cannot lift my arms above elbow and if I seat on the floor I cannot get up. As I said, this happens about a month ago. I have been a very healthy person all my life until now. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciate it/

Mine started 2yrs.ago with tingling, pins and needles and the burning. I've also experienced muscle twitches. I've tested negative for everything (Mri brain and c-spine, ncs and all blood test). My neurologist put me on Elavil a year ago and at first it helped then I started feeling the same symptoms again. So they just wanted to increase my medicine which I declined (lots of side effects). I came across a holistic dr. and its been incredible!!! He thinks its mercury toxins from my old teeth fillings. I've replace those fillings and I went off the Elavil. I started taking herbs and vitamins for my other symptoms. He put me on a cleanser to get rid of the toxins in my body. I also started taking vitamin B12(for the shocks and pins and needles)and magnesium (muscle twitches). So far I am feeling so much better!!!! I understand what you guys are feeling because I thought I was going to die!!!!. I've never believed in holistic Drs. but now I do. I travel 2hrs. to go and see him. I don't drink sodas or eat in white flour substances any more and I feel great!!! I've been seeing him for 3months now and I will continue. Good luck to everyone!!!!

It seems we all experience some form of burning, numbness and tingling. I am diabetic for 45 yrs and am now having these pains and what a pain! I had my EMG just recently and it confirms the neuropathy and CTS. I went to a neurologist and she tells me SURGERY right away so I went to an othopedic surgeon and he told me there is no need for surgey now as the carpal tunnel is not that prominent. so watch out for the money hungry doctors. There are meds for neuropathy. I am on generic neurontin and it does work the majority of the time. Especially for sleeping. I cannot pronounce the rest of them much less spell them. Just look up neuropathy drugs on here. I am also seeing a chiro which helps some of the pain. I found out tonight that a lot of these pains are coming from trigger points in our bodies. When we find our trigger points and perform our own therapy,it gets rid of numbness, tingling, stiffness, burning and swelling. I also have the swelling and stiffness in my knuckles. It is sooo hard for me to do a lot of things. For instance, our forearm muscles control our fingers so some therapy in the arms would help the pain. I have come up with cold lazer therapy to my internist and I have not heard from her yet. The coldness in winter gives me such a terrible time. The burning is consistant. I have diabetes mellitis (sp?) and for all my yrs, I was very hard to control with my sugars. Whether one is diabetic or not, anyone can get and have neuropathy. I have been on 10 different insulins and finally I have 2 that I take daily and they are the best I have been on. Anyone here that is diabetic, do you go to the webMD board for diabetics? It is very helpful there and I get a lot of helpful answers from all the other diabetics. Try it, you may like it! There are so many nice, caring and understanding people on the board. I hope I have shed some light.

Our bodies are trying to tell us something if we are all tingling, burning and having the pins and needles. My doctor put me on Elavil and all that does is suppress my symptoms. All my blood test were negative and other test that my neurologist has given me. My Holistic dr. saids, " Theres something inside of you that is making this happen". I have been given B12 which has totally helped. Also, a herb to get rid of the toxins in my body!! I have been dealing with this for 2yrs+. I am 36 with 2 kids who needed me to function normal again. My neurologist thought it was perhapal neuropathy (sp.) and a virus caused it. But after coming in contact with my Holistic Dr. and seeing him, I have felt incredible!!!!! I feel all drs. want to do is put everyone on meds to cover the symptoms because they can't find out the cause. I feel some of you need to find a great holistic dr. like I did.

I have numb and burning, tingling feet for the past 12 years. It started with a cool feeling on the top of the left foot. Now it is severe pain in both feet, numb and little feeling. The tingling is now in both hands. I have been to every docotor you can mention. I have an appointment with a Foot and Ankle clinic in another state in about two weeks. It seems as though the doctors care. I had one foot doctor tell me there was nothing he could do, and he did not even examine me. I have dianosed with PN, but I don't believe it. The burning in my feet can be helped by rubbing the toes. This morning when I awoke, my left little toe was turning a black color as it is brused. The bottom of my feet, the Plantar Fascia, is like it is dead. Any help.

The palms are visibly red, but may feel cool to another person. I thought maybe it was viral(hand, foot, mouth disease),but it reoccurs several times a week now. I am 36,a nurse and a mother of 3 kids and I have't had time to see a Dr. as of yet. I have hand numbness and weakness with repetition. Thanks for your responses...I don't think I'm crazy now telling my Dr "Can you help me I have hot hands and feet"

I just happened onto this website. Almost every person listed had classic symptoms of Lyme Disease. Lyme is the fastest growing infectious disease in our country. Most doctors are not Lyme literate and THE STANDARD BLOOD TESTS ONLY TEST FOR ANTIBODIES FOR LYME AND IF YOU HAVE HAD IT FOR A WHILE YOU DO NOT HAVE THE ANTIBODIES. You need a test that will show the actual Lyme spirochetes. My daughter suffered for 11 years and finally had the Lyme test. She has high levels of active Lyme and is now being treated for Lyme. She was originally diagnosed with RSD. Please, I beg you, go to Bowen.org and get the lab test from Bowen laboratories. It is the only accturate test there is. Thousands of people have Lyme and do not know it. Also, please go on the internet and look up into on Lyme. Judy

I am having burning sensation in my left foot, more on the heal and it goes around my ankle and then goes up my calf. It seems to be worse at night. I can also feel it throbing. At first I thought it was just from my new part time retail job. Wasn't use to being on my feet for such a long period of time. But it didn't get worse. My foot swealed up. I went and saw the doctor, and he didn't seem to think much about it. Asked me if I had hurt myself playing sports and all, which I haven't. Told me to get some shoe instert padding and gave me some medication. Told me to stay off my feet for awhile. Well I have stayed off my feet, and the pain isn't as bad, but I still have the burning sensation. My other leg is starting to feel a little burning sensation around the knee.A few years ago I had a problem with both of my hand and feet. They had this tingle feeling, like when you foot falls asleep. It would not go away. I went to the doctor and they sent me to a specialist, who did test on me, said I had nerve damage. And that was about it. But the feeling went away and hasn't bothered me. I have also in the past, had severe vertigo.
Have no idea what is causing this. I think I should go see the doctor again since it has not gotten better. Does anyone have any idea on this or could it be some sort of STD? I do not know why I always think that, but it always seems to cross my mind when I start not to feel well.

I'm 21 and I just recently starting having a burning pain that occurs in my forearms, and in my legs sometimes. It's getting consistently worse, and it's starting to scare me. What should I do? I'm also tired a lot, and I feel weak. Any ideas?

Gina--Please refer to my comment on 12-13-04 and consider Lyme disease as a possibility. You sound like a classic "Lymie". Only the Bowen test is accurate. Go to Bowen.org for info. Write again if you have questions. I will keep checking this bulletin board. The common thread among Lyme patients is tiredness.

Judy, i have all the 'lyme symptoms,' but did not have the rash or red spot, which is an important symptom of lymes disease. If these people did not have the rash, then they do not have lyme disease and need to explore other symptoms.
Comment added by BH on 12/16/04
oops, I was wrong about the rash, 30% of people with lymes do not present with a rash....sorry
Comment added by Judy on 12/17/04
BH--Thank you for your input. Lyme is the fastest growing infectious disease in our country. 160,000 people will get Lyme this year, and only 1 in 10 will be properly diagnosed. Only 50% of people had a rash. Please continue to consider Lyme and get the Bowen blood test. Do not let the doctors talk you out of it. Go to the Lyme Disease websites and do more research. Good luck.

For all of you with burning and tingling please try vit.B12. I had my symptoms for 2+yrs and it was getting really worse. I did have a blood test for the B12 and the blood test came within range. When I saw my holistic dr. he said it didn't matter that I still could be needing it. He put me on B12 and 3 weeks later I feel great!!! The B vitamens are for your nervous system. I'm telling I feel great!!! I still have some but not like before. He pumped me up on the B's. Please read my comment on 12-1 (Lora) and 12-2. When all your test are negative your body is telling you something. Please read both my comments. I'm going to my neurologist to let them know that my holistic dr. cured me!!!! I do know why the neurologist didn't tell me about taking B12. It was so simple and I wasted 2+yrs. of worrying myself. Please read my other 2 comments it tells my story.

Have a friend who had a lot of problems with his feet including the burning. Suffered for years and spent thousands on medical tests. He had been on Synthroid for several years for low thyroid. It can cause an inability of the body to absorb B-12 thru the digestive process. He was given B-12 shots and the pain and burning stopped. He took B-12 shots monthly. I would suggest to anyone with pain and burning to try the type of B-12 tablets that can be absorbed under the tongue which will by pass the gut process and see if they get better relief than using the B-12 that is swallowed. If you are on synthetic thyroid meds, please discuss switching to the Armour thyroid as it is natural and contains minute amounts of hormones and intrinsic elements that synthetics do not. I do not know if it will cure the symptoms but may help.I also have a friend whose daughter developed severe pains and eventually swelling in some of her joints. For 2 years she took her to a number of Drs and had all kinds of tests. She finally talked to a chiropractor who suggested getting a blood test for allergies and told her milk was a prime cause of allergies. She told him that she was positive that her daughter could not be allergic to it. After all, she had been drinking it all her life. Turns out she was allergic to milk and 2 or 3 other things and when she eliminated those from her diet, the pain stopped and she shed about 20 pounds almost over night. She was able to return to band and sports and all those things she had been unable to do for nearly 2 years.
I am also wondering how many people use products with the artificial sweetener, Aspartane, better known as EQUAL/NUTRASWEET There are so many side effects from the use of this and it is in so many products. Baby aspirin, many of the diet products, yogurt, every chewing gum (not just diet)including Dentyne and Wrigleys. The only one that I have found that still has sugar is the Fruit Stripe and it is very hard to come by. Please look up Aspartane and read about all the side effects and pending lawsuits.
Also, start checking ingredients of products. Even some children's vitamins have it. The list of side effects are mind boggling.

I totally agree with Lindas comment on vit.B12 under the tongue. Thats what I have been taking and it has changed my life. Please check for allergies and stay away from all that fake sugar product (my chir. also told me how bad it is). I know this will help alot of you.Go see a chiro. holistic dr. they'll totally agree with this. Its so simple!!

I have had all these symptoms for months now, have rheumatoid factor in blood tests. Pain is excrutiating. What are the dosages for B12, folic acid, and is there a holistic MD in ethe Chicago area?
Comment added by Lora on 12/19/04
I take vitamin B12 2mg(2000mcg)3xaday under the tongue. I've been taking this for a month and what a difference!!! I also take magnesuim for my muscle twitches that are almost faded away. Read my article on 12-1 and 12-2. My holistic dr. is in sacramento (which I travel 2hrs to see him).I also know of two people that come from Las Vegas to see him. It seems like alot of Chiropractors are in the healing fields. I would go to a natural food and vitamin store and see if they can recommend anyone. Or you can look in the phone book for chiros and call them.

My mom passed away with ALS and she started out with falling. My father has diebetis, high blood pressure and has two stents in both of the arteries that go to the kidneys and also has had a couple of minor strokes. I feel for everyone of you becuase I have worked in the medical field for years. Now I am an educator for PCA home health care and train caregivers to take care of their loved ones and others in the home. I have seen my share of illnesses to know that individuals are the best to make decissions for their body. If doctors don't listen then make them listen. They are normally to busy and forget that people are individuals and some times doctors need to be reminded to be compasionate and not in the business for the science but because they care. Remember that your life not only effects you but your whole family and you need to take care before it ends up to be to much to handle. Lots of care and compassion to you all and have a good Holiday!

Hi everyone,
Well I stumbled on this sight because I have been experiencing burning, numbing pain in my hands and feet for over 24 hours. I called my doctor because I thought I might have an allergic reaction to Entex. He told me if it was it would go away by the afternooon. It hasn't gone away. I'm going to see him in the morning. I also can barely walk. I hope I get relief I can't imagine going on for years. Also I notice everything I eat tastes metallic. So I wonder if it is some kind of poisoning. I don't look forward to tonights sleep. I'm 46, it's almost Christmas and I've been slapped with this. Just needed to share. My friends and family are praying for my relief. May tomorrow be a brighter day.
Comment added by Lora on 12/23/04
To Caroline, it sounds like you might have some kind of poisoning with the metallic taste. Please read my article on Dec.1 and 2. Do you have old fillings in your mouth? You might want to follow up on Mercury poisoining. That is what happen to me. I'm in the process of getting all of my old fillings out and replacing with porceline fillings. I was also put on anti-tonxin to relieve the poisioning in my body. I take lots of vitamin B12 (its great for the nervous system). It took away all my burning and tingling. Please read my other articles.

My dad has this burning sensation in the palms of his hands and at the soles of his feet and also on his face. He has been to two doctors. One said that it could be from all the grease and dirt from working on cars because he is a mechanic it also could be from some of the hand cleaning solutions that are out there.Just last night he had to go to the emergency room because it got too intense. If anyone out there has any solutions or remedies please let me know. Thank you. ato_h@yahoo.com

My mother is 80 years old. She has doctored her kidneys for 10 years and two weeks ago she started hemodialysis. She is not diabetic. She has been experiencing for several years pain in her toes. All of them at different times. We have had several visits to podiatrists. One won't even look at her anymore. He and another podiatrist suggested amputation below the knee. Her toes are turning purple but other podiatrists say that she is not at the point requiring amputation. Some say only the affected toes would be removed when the time comes...others say half of the foot just below the toes, and like I said, a couple of them said below the knee, because if you don't cut enough off and it refuses to heal, another surgery is necessary. Vascular surgeons have checked her and said that she has an ample pulse in her foot for a woman of her age. They believe that plaque has broken off and settled in the capillaries in the toes and nothing can be done. She goes through excruciating pain, sometimes lasting for three or four hours in the middle of the night. She cries. It is a throbbing that comes in waves and sometimes it is an extreme burning sensation. She takes Darvocet every 4 hours---they tried neurotin but she hallucinated and talked goofy. A neurologist said that her problem was circulatory, not a neuropathy. Please, is there someone out there that can help me find help for my mother. I cannot believe that in this day and age, there is absolutely nothing that can be done...that she must experience this daily.
Thanks. My e-mail is marilynr8169@sbcglobal.net

Hi,
Has anyone tried Acupuncture? I had every test known to man and was at the end of my rope. I have Fibromyalgia, I was diagnosed last year. I was sent to doctor after doctor and all they wanted to do was stuff with me with more pills. Pills are not the answer to everything...my last "try" to get myself feeling like a human being was Acupuncture. Every other doctor, even my family doctor who diagnosed me, never really said "I can help you feel better" and meant it. My Acupuncturist did say those words the first visit. It's not for everyone, but those who suffer as I do, well, it may be worth a try just to see if you respond. You life changes, but then, your quality of life seems to shine through as each session goes by. A lot of our pains are due to the way we eat--I found out the hard way. It's amazing what happens when you eat the "correct" foods. :) Hope this helps someone out there! Thanks!

HAS ANYONE THOUGHT THAT MAYBE THE SYMPTOMS COME FROM SYSTEMIC LUPUS. PATIENTS WITH SLE CAN DEVELOPE DIFFERENT COMBINATIONS OF SYMPTOMS AND ORGAN INVOLVEMENT. COMMON COMPLAINTS ARE FATIGUE, LOW-GRADE FEVER, LOSS OF APPETITE, MUSCLE ACHES, ARTHRITIS, ULSERS OF THE MOUTH AND NOSE, FACIAL RASH (BUTTERFLY RASH). RAYNAUD'S PHENOMENOM IS ALSO SOMETHING THAT COULD ALSO BE LOOKED INTO AS DIAGNOSED FOR PAIN IN FINGERS AND FEET. ALONG WITH LUPUS. THE HEADACHES THE FEET BURNING AND HANDS. A TRIGGER POINT TO ONSET LUPUS IS STRESS. CHECK INTO LUPUS SYMPTOMS.

i can relate to some of the comments i have read. my problem is i have these burning sensations. they start in my upper arms and shoulders and then go down into my hands and i can feel it sometimes in my legs and feet. i am a diabetic, but i keep my blood sugar in apretty good range. my alc test has been pretty high.the last time it was 8,but i am doing better with it now. i would like to know what is causing the burning tingling in my arms? it scares me and sometimes make my blood pressure go up. i have told my doctor, but like some of the other people with comments, he doesn't seem to think it is anything serious, but i know it is uncomfortable and i would like to know if there is something i could take for it. it doesn't do it all the time, but is happening more often. i hope some one can give me some advice or help. thanks so much, johnnie marie lockhart

Lora, I, too, am seeing a holistic chiropractor in the Sacramento area. I wonder if he is the same one. He is amazing. The doctor I'm seeing has his office is in Fair Oaks village. I have had edema for about 6 months now, and for the last four months my hands have been tingling, burning, I get agonizing nerve pain in them. This all worsens dramatically at night when I try to sleep. Standing up relieves it somewhat, although the tingling is constant, and burning is usual. It's obviously due to the swelling from my edema, or possibly something else complicating it, but I don't know what is causing the edema. I've wondered if it's a food allergy or some kind of systemic infection. My medical doctors are clueless. I say doctorS, because I have bounced from one to another in the hopes of finding someone with at least an idea. They have run all the "standard" tests, and they all come back normal, so the doctors send me on my way. At this point I am ready to collapse from lack of sleep. I have seen a holistic chiropractor in Fair Oaks for help, and he has found a spot on my upper spine that is compacted, and when he works on it, I can feel it tingle in my hands. He also found I had an intestinal parasite infection and had an overstressed liver, so he put me on an herbal remedy of "FC-Cidal" and concentrated oregano to clear out my system. I had hoped to continue with this holistic doctor, but I have not been able to see him for the last month and a half because I have to pay for it out of pocket, and at this time I am strapped. So at the moment I'm back at the mercy of my health plan (HMO), and it doesn't look promising. I have been trying to take matters into my own hands, researching for ideas (which landed me here.) I am also on a regimine of other various herbs, some at the recommendation of a native medicine man, others from doing a little research. I still feel perplexed, though, as the symptoms persist. Something has to be done, though. I can't live like this. I'm going to collapse. I am really disturbed and saddened by all the comments on this page by people who are suffering without help! I had to get "pushy" at my last visit with the doctor to just get tested for food allergies, and he still didn't want to do it. I had hoped to get tested for as many food allergens as possible, and metal toxicity. I walked out with ONE test for wheat, and I had to argue with him just to get that. It disturbs me that the medical community sends people home in such pain when they have no clues about a diagnosis. What ever happened to consulting colleagues or doing some research to get ideas? Anyway, I continue my search for help. I wish you all luck, and my prayers are with you, as it seems we truly need a miracle where medical science is failiing us here.

Well,
first excuse my writing cause i am french, but this is so important that i have to tell everybody my story.I had been diagnosted with CFS and FM and CMS are :
Chronique Fatigue Syndrome
Fibromyalgia
Myofacial pain SyndromeAnd so many others pains that i have to endure.
Listen, Doctors sometimes do not want to give us pain killer because we are supposivly easy to become addicted to pain killer . Ya Right ? what a joke ! I use Natural anti-oxydant500mg, Omega 3-6-9 and Acetyl-L-Carnitine500mg, vitamine E_C_B, Clacium, MAgnesium, Potassium.
Lots of Veggies, Organic Milk and Bread etc.Did you know that 90 % of Doctors takes Anti-Oxydant ?
From my pains :
I had cried, i had pain like i wanted to die last Christmas
I almost poisonned myself to get out of my Mysery.
Well, Lately, what we hear Celebrex, Viox, Anaprox and all the same familly products are going to be pulled out from Canada, cause it killed people.(heart)It is true it gave me pain in my chest. Before even know about removing these products i stopped. So i decide to stop all the pain killer and turn to Natural
products. I made so much search for diabetic product and found out that eye burning and feet, and hands are resemblance to Diabetic. Problems is the Doctor said that after test for glucose i was not Diabetic, he said that
is a symptoms of everything CFS but did not gave me something for the pain or do remove the problems by tring somthing etc... So I decide to cut on the sugar I take Stevia to replace the sugar. It changed the pain level right away.Well I bought Chronium GTF, Vanadium, Fenugreek, and for the first time this week my eyes, my feet, my hands stopppppppppped burning.
THANKS TO GODDDDD because he created these herbssss before humans hey?
About that ?????? hey ????
I use to have as an answer : well i dont know what to say,
I dont know what to gave you for the pain, well i dont know and they look at you and smile ...Sometime when Doctors and Medecine failed, it is because they protect the Drugs and Food Industrie and we pay for all the bad food we eated that maked us sick today because of the shares Holders hey ?
About that ?
We do not have the Guns from the FDA here in Canada but when you see what's going on today and you are suffering when others get rich making you addicted to their food
because they hide MSG, or suppose Natural Flavor, spices or More ???
You are a victim like me.
4 years now to find out about this and i do not smoke
and eat junk, msg, or all addictive product and i feel
better.
This is no joke, i could not eat any grease from chiken,
cheese, meet (fat), chips, butter, milk (too fat), i vomit always
i dont smoke drugs, i used to do lots of things, not anymore
It is like my body gave up.
I went to 6 Specialists for sleep tests. It confirms that i do not go to my deep sleep anaymore, even they gave me sleeping pills and nopppp, nothing. So all my hormones are
not functionning properly and it can make your endocrine systems in trouble. Dont forget all the endocrine controls all your hormones, so that is why i have burning hands and feet, and eyes.
Pain in the chest
Dizziness
Fever 6 months
pain in Bones and muscles
Exhausted
Pain in the stomac (Pituitary glangs)
Pain in my overies (hormones again)
Neurologic (hormones agains)
When i urinated it is burning (Hormones again)
Sleep Problems (hormones again for the brain)
ALL HORMONES FROM THE ENDOCRINE ARE AFFECTED
Why Doctors are not telling me this ?Well, i know so many things, that i had to investigated by myself like a detective to get out of this severe pain in my hands and others parts of my body (skin).
Anyway, i take Hoodia herbs during the night to stop the pain in my stomac, guess what ? Well i do not have pain anymore About that ?
I went to a GI and he put a long F... Tube in my throat and one half of my stomac was inflammed, tooked biopsie and nothing he said. And i suffered for 5 years night and days and nobody gave me pain killer.
To me again I started to belive that the medecine are
copiying the natural molecules pay for a patent (840 millions) and do not want us to take a natural product.
$$$$ that is why for the last 75 years ago, that did not
exist, Can not treat, Prevent, or diagnosted a desease.
This is the Fraud. They have a fight about who's going to have control. And sometime the Natural product is put aside because of $$$.
We suffer , we have results and they removed it from us.Well this is my rights of FREEDOM, and they can not remove what it help me to be free from pain.
Well i want to get out of this handicap life and get back to who i was before. I feel like a zombie alone, and doctors who wants me to takes antidepressed pills to kill myself are not helping me at all.
For some it is OK but for me Not. And they are pusher like
a pot pusher to me. no diff
I want to say to people waht i am going to make the pain away, and how i healed myself.
You may want to try that ?
Thank You
Blessings to all of you.

I'm sorry to hear that so many people are going through this intense situation. My wife is currently expereincing the same shoulder, hands, legs, and feet pain, then some. Therefore I intend to find a solution. ( 1 ) I will first start out providing a CLEANSING PROGRAM like the one mentioned early on in the comments.( 2 ) Then provide her with a healhy diet. ( 3 ) along with nutritional vitamins catered to this condition. I will remit my findings. A solution must and will be found !

Hello,
I have been reading this thread for 2 hours. I'm really happy to have found it and wil linvestigate some leads I've read about.I'm a healthy 28 year old female, non smoker, light drinker, fairly active. About 10 days ago I developed this weird sensation in my upper back, like the skin was sensitive to touch (kind of like coming down with the flu) and moderately painful when pressed. It also spasmed- or what I mean is there was a somewhat sharp pain that radiated, lasted a second or two, that would hit the area from every ten seconds to every couple of hours (in clumps).
About four days after that I woke up (Wednesday) and found that my left hand (esp. back of hand, inner wrist) was tingly and numb-not a lot, and I thought it was from sleeping on it. During the day it got worse and began to be *extremely sensitive* to touch/temp., especially when the skin was rubbed. I felt painful pricking sensations unlike I've ever felt before. I saw the doctor (general practitioner) the next day and he thought it was tendonitis and prescribed 800 mg Motrin. That helped the back but not so much the hand. Then yesterday- Saturday morning I found that during the night I had gotten the same symptoms in my right foot (toes). Very painful to walk or to put on pants. The second day it seems a mild pain - generalized, skin sensitivity- travels up the limb (mid forearm, upper arm, shin and lower leg). I have been taking vitamin C, vitamin E, and turmeric for it and it seems that the foot is getting better, as is the left hand (about 75% better now) but I am worried about why it's happening and what will happen next. I don't know if the back pain and the extremities pain are related.
My med. history: chronic asthma, year round allergies, on allegra, advair (corticosteroid), birth control, and immunotherapy (allergy shots). My family thinks it's the latter but I really doubt it. I have a history of anxiety but have never been on meds. Also I had a minor t-12 compression fracture in a car accident 2 1/2 years ago; it seemed to heal fine and I never had PT nor diagnosed w/neck injuries. I do have 8 or so amalgam fillings, which also worry me. I've been sleeping on a rather uncomfortable sofa which probably strained my back/neck, but this?? Haven't been tested for anything yet. I don't eat junk food and am 90% vegetarian in diet but careful to balance.
I already feel it starting in my right hand, in fact.
Any ideas or people with similar? homepathy or supplements advice? Thanks!!

My boyfriend hands and feet itch like crazy at the beginning of the night. He does not have a rash. Is there a cause and what can we do.

again i'm writng i wsh i had answers. i've read some books on sojgren's ddisease, sorry for bad tyyping. it's not curable. sometimes my feet are burning but cold during the day,but get warm at night. most sem like they have nerve and circulation problems. autioimmune diseases cause a lot of these problems and some medicines trigger the diseases to creep up on you. doctors won't admit it because of big money from drug companies, and of course some of these drugs workon a majority of people so its the minority that suffer. if you ever look at the number of people whho are tested it's often less thn 100. one popular drug boasted less than one percent had side effects, but the side effects were dangerous with a list of about 200, and then they all say rare side efects can occur in any part of the body. also watch drugs that may inteact wee all different. one particular drug showed tumors in rats is commonly used now. another drug celebrex was shown to cause problems at least two years ago, but we heard about viox first. i know someone who makes pharmacutical drugs and he is very disturbed about the quality control. hope you all find cures. i've given up since all i can do now is lay down at night and sit all day when i was so athletic beore. my siatica is killing me along with my gi problems. i've lost 45 pounds and insurance runs out in june. God bless i know you're all suffering.

I jut discovered this web page because I also was looking for some answers to pain and numbness in arms and hands and pain in my neck and from the looks of things I think the best thing to still look for is natural healing or holistic
and evenenergyhealers which I am now learning about.there seamsto besomepoor circulation in the system which is why I think flushing and natural healing and fresh produce is very essential to better circulation along with herbal treatments and teas. Try natural health stores and seek natural healers becuse all doctors do is guesswork and give nothing but half remedies and mostly sideaffects that make things worse.Just sending natural food for thought . Ask about vitanims that really help circulation. Best of health. Also look into SportronInternational.com or call Barbara Horsfall at 1-585-223-6620 and askquestions because they have supposeddly come up with some naturl food matrix prducts that have recovered diabetics and other ailments. I can't afford them but maybe some of you can and may want to try them. good luck, Gods blessings and some better years of natural pain relief, sincerely Margie

Hi there,Please shed some light. I went into hospital A&E on instruction of my GP with the following systems mid November - pins and neddles in both hands and feet, 'fluttering' in my upper back, difficulty going upstairs, clumsy, collapsed without any warning on couple of occasions, loss of power in right hand/arm. Lumbar puncture taken, lots of blood, MRI scan, physio and 2xemg - lumbar puncture showed high protein (I think DOctor said something about 50 or so) all I know is that he said this was high also no white cells (don't know what this means). Hospital confirmed not MS thought maybe GBSyndrom but not 100% sure so would not treat. Second lumbar pucture taken proved higher protein than initial one but still could not confirm anything. I was let out of hospital after been told that I 'was a puzzle' and to come back in 6-8 weeks for 'more advanced emg' in another hospital and then back to origianl Doctor week later - due to have emg tomorrow back to Doctor next Wednesday. Since leaving the hospital (particularly in past 3 weeks) things have changed - I seem to have got back a little power in my hand/arm but still weaker than normal, I can walk upstairs a bit better but still need to hold the rail - I get the flutterings now in my upper back, back of neck, rear, and back of thighs - in fact nearly all down the back half of my body, also in the past two weeks I have experienced bad paid, like burning, in my hands and more so in my feet, bad enough that it keeps me awake for hours on end. I have noticed slight aching appearing in my right calf and thigh muscle. In the past few days I have achey pain, like a weight resting on my shoulder blades and back of neck, still clumsy, have falling once since left hospital. I am so tired from lack of sleep that I feel it is having an effect on my family - I am married with three children under the age of seven. I have nervous to bath my 1.5 year old due to my clumsy actions. Also I can not carry her up the stairs to bed - my husband does it every night (but I want to !). I have a great family most of whom work themselves but they do help out now and again when they can. Can anybody giv e me any ideas as to what I might have this is going on for more than three months - this may not seem too long to many but when you have small children this is a long time. Thanks, Helen.

I also have problems with pain in my feet. When I walk for more than 20 minutes or even go up and down stairs many times, my feet are killing me all night and sometimes the next day. With the pain I also get a burning sensation and even spasms. Last winter I noticed tingling sensation in my feet, then it increased and burning sensation started. I have spasms usually with this now. Over the past year I started to get little spasms here and there in other parts of my body. I could have a muscle spasm on my arm in the monrning and then a spasm on my leg. I don't have a clue what this is. I had blood work done thinking it was a calcium deficiency, but all blood work came out okay. I am thinking I need orthodics for the feet, but don't have a clue why I am getting these little spasms in other parts of body. Doctor just thinks it is a "tick". I am getting concern because I seem to be getting more "ticks" as time goes on. Any ideas?

My mom also recently had back surgery (spinal fusion) and now 5 months later has developed burning pain in her feet, hurts to walk and is worse with weight bearing. Five doctors told her she had plantar fasciitis/metatarsalgia, but now they think it is regional complex pain syndrome, or RSD (regional sympathetic dystrophy) as they formerly called it. I hope this helps others with these distressing symptoms. Please post any treatments you may have had that have helped out.

Has anyone had the burning and tingling pain and soreness under there armpits extending down their sides. Doctor says its stress but I have had it two months now. I had full bloodwork done and everything showed normal excpet one of my liver functions. He also said it was not lymphatic. I am going to try the b-12. My pain is not as excruciating as those described by many here but extremely annoying.

I also added plenty of water to my diet. I am proud to say that in the 6 years i have had this problem. I am no longer in pain!!.. unless i splurge..haha then i suffer the concequences later. hope you all find out what is causing your pain .. best wishes Jama ...jama032166@aol.com

HI! i just found this group from a search on google, while looking for links for "chronic burning nerve pain in my hands and feet".
I have been unable to sleep for years with crippling, burning nerve pain in my hands and feet. 17 years bedridden 22 hours a day.i have tried everything under the sun. BUT, i have recently had some luck with three things. PLEASE check with your doctor first, before trying any treatment, i am NOT a doctor.First, check into CELIAC disease. it is an intolerance to wheat and gluten. it causes malabsorption, but in about 15% of people, it causes "crippling, burning nerve pain in the hands and feet". i now avoid wheat and gluten. it is NOT easy. gluten is in MANY foods sold in the USA.
Second, think of possible diabetic neuropathy. try www.rebulidermedical.com. This is like a TENS unit. it is a simple 9 volt battery hooked up to special electric voltage charge. it works WONDERS! (but it is too expensive at 399 dollars). My current pain meds are more than 1500 dollars a month for Fentanyl duragesic patches (75 times stronger than morphine), but i have been able to cut down my pain meds dramatically, so it is worth it to me.
THIRD, Try taking Alpha Lipoic Acid. this helps tremendously with breaking down the nasty fats and sugars so prevalent in our american diet. Thus the blood can flow more easily in the tiny capillaries in the top of the hands and feet and reoxygenate the blood and slow down the pain signals to the brain.
I once worked on oil tankers, and as a commercial painter 30 years ago, and i think that Celiac disease caused nutrients to NOT be absorbed in my body, and the chemical toxins overwhelmed my weakened immune system and knocked my central nervous system into overdrive. comedian Jerry Lewis was on David Letterman the other night (January 2005) and he said that 1 in 5 americans lives with chronic pain. he now uses an implanted electronic device to zap his pain away.
i hope these three things might help erase some of the misery that we unfortunately share.
Best of Luck to ALL of you!
Sincerely,
TMH

I have found that all my burning sensations, feet and hands have stopped, since i changed my diet. all red meats, dairy products removed.. replace with greens, fruits and fish.. also use MSM tablets
Comment added by Tom Tank Engine on 2/3/05
I too have found changing diet helps amazingly..
PLEASE BE AWATE THAT THE FOODS WE EATS ARE SO HEAVILY PROCESSED THAT THERE IS ACTUALLY NO FOOD IN MOST OF THEM!!!Most are chemical preservatives.. there is a long chemical explanation for this, but simply, these 'foods' do not break down, because they are designed not to, so they break down our cells instead.... think about it, cavemen never had all these problems?? because they never ate processed food..
get rid of all the junk food... stay away from WHEAT, GLUTEN, MILK, MEAT...
eat only pure foods.. fruits and vegetables.. drink lots of water.. water purifies the blood..
meditate.. exercise, drop your weight.. de-stress.. resign from stressful jobs.. go to the country, breath fresh air..DO NOT EAT CHEESEBURGERS.. PROCESS FOODS ARE KILLERS... think back, as children you never had your pains, because your cells were renewing and replacing the rubbish ones.. now they are all alone.. and being bombarded by rubbish poisoned foods... notice how food are being withdrawn from supermalls overnight with no explanation.. because someone has found they are poisonous...
STAY AWAY FROM BAD FOODS...
STICK TO FRUITS, VEGETABLES AND WATER.. IT WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE...and you must exercise.. build new muscles to add the weak ones...
Be brave, change your lifestyle..
cut out the smoking, drinking....
be pure... you want the pain to go... well give up the pain inducers.... don't believe me... fast for 2 days and watch the difference...
your body wants to heal itself... you wont need those drugs anymore...go visit scotland.. breath fresh air..

following a serious motor car accident three yars ago, my right hand was lacerated, which in turn made my hand become stiff so that I awas unable to make a fist with my hand, now after three years i have only been able to close my hand about half way.
The specialist have confirmed that this is cronicic regional pain syndrome.
I also have sever stiffness in my full right limb as well as a frozen shoulder, which restricts movement.
All the other symptons that have stayed with me since the accident are back problems pains into the back of my head, unsteadiness.
I have been told that after two years that it is unlikley that full use of my righ limb would return.
Untill the accident I had not heard of this syndrome, could any one give me any furthur information. Thankyou Linda B

She now sleeps all night and does not have these symptoms. Your help is greatly appreciated.Thank you for sharing.

I have Peripheal Neuropathy in my feet and don't like to take pain meds as I have a bad reaction to them. Recently I thought about a magnetic bracelet that you can wear on your wrist so found a necklace and made it smaller for my ankles. Found it at Wal Mart but havent seen any since but you can order them online specifically for your ankles.
Seems to help some but have found that stress really kicks the pain up a notch or three so what to do about that.

Thank you all for all your comments. I guess that's where that saying comes from."Misery loves company"!! I am 76 yrs old and am having the same symptons. Very hot hands and feet, mainly at night. After the first few minutes in bed, my feet get hot and feel like they are throbbing, then my hands get hot and then hands and feet feel like they are swollen. The skin feels real tight, but then looking at them, they are not!! They are just hot and throbbing. As a result, I'm up out of bed, and sit in a recliner until around 5 AM, then exhausted, I go to bed. I'm usually awake again at 7AM, back to sleep, then awake again at 9AM. etc.
I, too, have had back surgery, partial thyroid surgery, and am always in pain, from my back. Nothing works! I think the thyroid has a lot to do with it. Although I take Levoxyl for thyroid, I don't think it's the right medication for me. I'm going to the doctor for another prescription change. I used to take Synthroid and that "wore off" as well.
Thank you again for all your input.

2 1/2 weeks ago my feet, ankles and legs suddenly swelled up (gained 20 lbs of water weight in 3 days!), and my hands started burning in excrutiating pain. I couldn't close my hands and they felt very prickly (pins and needles). I was exhausted. I had muscle pains throughout my body. I have still been fighting this sudden onset of symptoms. My hands scream in pain around 3:00 a.m. every night, and keep me awake until I can somehow calm the pain down. It's horrible. Sometimes I can't even hold a pencil to write or pick up anything. Ended up in the Emergency Room. They just determined that I wasn't "dying" and released me to have my doctor figure out what is going on. I asked if they had ANY idea what was happening with me. The ER doc just said, "Maybe it's a virus." Well, I thought that was a pretty ridiculous guess, but I don't know... maybe it is a virus. Or, maybe it's something much worse. It has severely impacted my life... there are days that I am so exhausted and in pain that I stay in bed all day and night. It also seems to ebb and flow. Sometimes I feel like I might be getting better, only to be hit with it worse than before, the next day. Whatever is happening is not at all fun. Any ideas as to what might be going on? I would really appreciate any ideas or suggestions. Thank you very much! J

I have to start off by saying, WE ARE NOT OUT OF OUR MINDS! 2004 was my year of telling everyone I am not crazy. I too have had almost every symptom that has been listed. I have always been able to control my leg pains with some form of asprin. Last January, I had a weird outbreak of some kind of rash. It took six general doctors, two eye specialist, and three dermatologist to narrow it down to a possible form of shingles(a virus). I was not aware that severe long lasting chronic pain and nerve damage are a result of the disease. I have another appt. on the 16th to seek pain relief. My doctors can't stand me because I always come in with web research. I will not stop trying to figure out why I have this and how to get rid of it or control it. This pain has stolen all of our lives. I will pray for all of us to find answers.

Ive had pain(feels like fire ants) in my feet and on my hands. Seems like it is PN. At night is it alot owrse, or when I am sitting driving the car, the doc has got me on nerve meds, but they can not seem to find out the cause. My sugar count was 113, and my HIV test was negative. Has anyone heard of reactive arthritis causing PN? I am HLB 27 positive, and had a possible case of Chlyamidia years ago, so a possible candidate for Reitters syndrom.

I am experiencing all these right now. We are trying to pack up a house to move and i am being no help..2 days ago I did some heavy duty cleaning and Ive been in the bed propped up, knees elevated and a heating pad. It started 30 years ago, I thought I had broken my thumb. Went to Hospital, wrong idea. Went to wonderful Dr. on Long Island in N.Y., he sent me to a rheumatologist. He said moer of this was being seen, later I found out it was Fibromialgia. I have had an operation on my right hand for Carpel Tunnel and right shoulder surgery, all over 15 yrs ago.The pain in the heels of both feet is so bad when I get up it is difficult to walk (have to use a cane). As the day goes on it becomes a deep ache. The last few years my hands hurt so much I get pain meds. from whatever Dr. I can. In Fl it is not easy to do. I am 55 and need to work for atleast another 10 years. If anyone has any ideas, a Doc that will listen, please post it. I stay active ,I clean banks at nithe so I can help my Mother during the day and I Kayak. I hate being in pain all the time but I feel if I don't move I'll really end up cripple . I have some success with Active Release Thearphy and avoided an operation due to just three treatments. That was in NY, can't find anyone here that does it, that I can afford to pay. Can anyone help???

Am experiencing extreme burning sensations on the upper parts of my hands, between thumb and first finger. Began with trigger finger(thumb) in right hand, then left hand; knots at base of both thumbs. Xrays show nothing, doctor says he thinks it is my imagination. Left upper arm goes numb when I sleep on it, so I don't. (NOTE: After 1 1/2 years of having trigger finger in both thumbs, they are now working again. No surgery or anything.) But, my hand skin feels very thin and like it is on fire and this does concern me.

I've spent the last 2 hours reading all of your comments and have learned alot. I took notes as I was reading. I've had pain in my feet, burning and a pain on the ankle bone. This all started a week ago when I walked alot in a park. This long walk triggered my low back problem which has been diagnosed as stenosis in the 2 bottom vertebras. Somehow, I felt the pain in my feet was related to my back pain, the sciatic nerve pain down my leg into my feet but I have never felt anything like this before. All week the pain in my feet has gotten worse. And tonight I looked at the bottom of my feet and found them to be bright red with a intense pain on the ankle bone. I also have pain in my arms and hands, the pins and needles in my arms and legs and feet. I cannot help but wonder about the celiac disease. I have always thought that I eat way too much bread and sometimes sugar although I remain thin. I am a 52 year old female. I have seen a rheumatologist and will follow up with him. The blood tests so far have come up negative for rheumatoid arthiritis. I have a great deal of pain in the joints. I just got over a virus that really took a lot out of me for a few weeks. Possibly that has somethings to do with what I am experiencing. So much is going on with my body and the pain is a lot to handle sometimes. Ibuprofen makes my blood pressure very high so, now I guess I will have to go on BP medicines. I send all of you my best wishes and don't give up finding what will work best for you. Thank you all for taking the time to share what has worked for you.

About two weeks ago I started to get burning on the soles of my feet and on my left forearm. I also have tingling in my hands and on my thighs that comes and goes. I have also have had alot of fatigue and shoulder pain. I am a doctor and have had an HIV test and blood work of which all have been negative. I have an MRI and MRA of the head scheduled for wednesday. These symptoms are common with diabetic neuropathies, but I am not diabetic. They also can be present with some autoimmune disorders so you should talk to your doctor about your specific situations. Vitamin B12 and Folate deficiencies also can present with these types of symptoms as well. Some MS patients also experience similar sensations. There is no specific test for MS but and MRI of the head to look for lesions and plaque is a good place to start. If your diet is bad your body may not be breaking down the B12 and Folate so it is not getting absorbed and may be the problem. I'll let you all know what the MRI shows. Good luck.

Don't know if this is the same for everyone but if I take any kind of "B" vitamins at night it keeps me awake. Might want to save them for morning. Also, an anti-inflammatory (Bayer Plus) seems to help. Could we have swollen pinched nerves?

I had no idea so many other people have suffered with these same symptoms. I first had burning hands and feet along with fatigue 12 years ago. No diagnosis after many tests. I finally decided it was related to stress and fatigue. The symptoms have come and gone over the past twelve years, but the past 6 months have refused to leave. I finally gave in and went to a doctor. I was afraid to be told that it was all "in my head". He suggested I take B complex vitamins and magnesium. I've had blood work done and an MRI. The MRI shows some "bright" spots, but does not seem to indicate anything in particular. I'm scheduled to see a neurologist soon. I was also prescibed amitriptylene in a very low dose for my headaches which have gone away with its use. The doctor seems to be checking especially for MS. May God bless you all!

I'm so sorry to have stumbled on this site to see so much suffering. I was looking into castor oil and somehow googled here. My complaints seem very mild compared to what I've read here, but I've looked into health a lot..as ster with breast cancer..a partner with an undiagnosed disorder that makes it very hard to walk, among other things. Please consider parasite treatments. Over 90 percent of people have them, and most tests don't even find them, but people see with their own eyes that they've had them. Also, look into Curezone. google curezone. Go to ask andreas and see if perhaps he can answer any of your questions. My prayers are with you all.

Burning feet, ankles, lower legs, hands and wrists with an added bonus of bulging veins that feel as if nails a being driven deep and painful. This pain is real and started about six years ago and is getting worse. I was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis three years ago. I refused long term steroid treatment. The Sercoid was in my liver. I was very ill for three months but recovered. I was always very healthy except for the escalating symptoms mentioned above. Could these symptoms also be related to Sarcoidosis?
I am beginning to think so. I don't have health insurance now so the clinic I go to offers very little help. I guess I will have to pass out in an emergency room before I qualify for some answers. Sorry- BAD IDEA

I still have the symtoms of cronic regional pain syndrom, with my hand not being able to close since a car accident 3 years ago.
The specialist say that after two years that I will not get back the full use of my right limb.
My hand is withering and the frozen shoulder has still not resolved itself.
I find it hard to believe this diagonis as I am a healty young woman.
Has anyone come up against this syndrom, as te hand theropist are now once again placing casts on my arm I suppose to try and delay the withering.

I have had unbearable pain burning and numbness in both feet ankles and legs for ten years . Finally found out what was wrong...plantar facitis, tarsel tunnel and a few other things, my Dr. gave me shots in both feet of cortisone and lidocain and I am pain free and the numbness and burning are going away. for a whole month now pain free. I feel hopeful that this will clear up now. Hope this will help some of you. An MRI taken of my feet and ankles showed the problem. I am also in physical therapy... Hellerwork, and I must continue to stretch my calves and feet every single day for the rest of my life. A small price to pay to remain pain free.

FIBROMYALGIA!!! This is like peeling an onion to get to the bottom of your problem. I had burning hands and feet and everytime I laid down to sleep it happened. I have other health issues and I decided to draw a diagram of all of the other serious things I have going on and I found a common denominator with those symptoms...fibromyalgia. TRY GUAIFENESIN sold over the counter as MUCINEX (weird that it is a decongestant, I know) and follow the South Beach Diet cutting the carbs and see if it goes away. Also, stop drinking bottled water because it may contain a flagellate organism that is responsible for some cases of fibromyalgia (like I said, it is onion peeling to get to the bottom of any disease today), aka Morgellon's Disease. Look on the web. Try diagnose-me.com. It is awesome. Worth the small membership fee. Also, see a rheumatologist or arthritis specialist if you think you fall into this category. Fibromyalgia is a terrible and elusive disease. It has many unusual symptoms, and it occurs in some persons after an illness or a severe injury, such as an automobile accident.

I have same c.n.s. problems and would like to suggest two
other food sources that are a big issue and should be
given up to see if it assists your problems.First is any corn that is not organic. Since the
goverment has allowed genetic modification of foods,
almost all corn is modified. This also means corn chips,
corn syrup, all corn products. I find them extremely toxic
to my system....even a small amount will set off the burning
and itching and numbness. The second is fish, canned or fresh and shellfish. Again,
a toxin issue. I still eat some but only once per week
and go to fresh schooling fish, not canned or reef fish
which are higher risk. Shellfish is a roll of the dice
according to area of harvest. Also, thanks to all who offer help. I feel many of the
supplements, plus extra vitaimin C are very helpful.Be well!

I have carpel tunnel, tendonitis-trigger finger, numb fingers, pain in nerves in arms. At one point recently, it felt as if firecrackers were firing off one at a time in right hand. This was at night after drinking alcohol. I stopped drinking alcohol and the buring finger pain has decreased. However, the most interesting thing that happened just two weeks ago is that I got a prescription for amoxicillian (sp) because of a Strep C infection in my throat. I was amazed when I realized that the extreme buring pain had stopped, even if I take a drink. I can still feel the nerves tingling, it's mostly one finger on my left hand, but no bad burning pain. Maybe we just all have nerve inflammation caused by a bacterial infection. Try an antibiotic and see if it helps.

Does anyone know what this is? I have been told no ALS, by just a Brain MRI no MS, and now the Dr. is testing for Myeloma with a blood test called Immunelectrophosis. Which I am waiting for the results now. Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts????? Thanks

I get these pains that start in my ankles(one time in the left, the next, in my right), and the next day it moves up to my hamstring. Then the next day, to the groin area, and ultimatley ends up with "water blister rashes" that pop by themselves, scab over for at least 10 days. The blisters are always either on my penis or buttocks. When the pain starts in the ankle and continues to move towards the groin, the skin is so sensitive to the touch that it feels like someone is pulling the hair on my legs. Its almost like something is inside of my skin, traveling around until it finds the sensitive areas of my body, and pop out saying here I am. It freakin' hurts and I'm bumbing. help please.

I have suffered with numb, burning feet for the past 12 years. I have gone to many doctors, MD's, Chiropractor, Neuirologist, and foot doctors. Nome of them have found anything to help. I also went to a Foot Clinic about two months and they could not come up with anything. All the doctors want to do is give you pain killers. So I began a search on the internet for a cure.Recently, I found a product on the market by the name of Kino Tox. A pad that is placed on the bottom of the feet overnight. The next morning the feet felt much better. I have used them for one week, and so far my feet feel much better. It is to soon to say the pads are the cure for my numb and burning feet, but so far it seem to help reduce the severe pain. If anyone is interested, send me an email and I will give you the details of how to contact the company. email: link22@charter.net. Thanks, Bob.

Every test I've had comes back negative for any kind of disease. (Brain MRI's, EKG, blood tests, VEP, BAEP) I'm so mad I could scream. Maybe the doctors think that telling me I don't have anything wrong will magically make me feel better, but it doesn't. I still have the same burning, tingling hands, feet and now lips. Sometimes it goes up my arms and legs. I'm taking B-12 and magnesium as well as Elavil. At least the headaches have gone away with the Elavil. Has anyone heard of trigger points?

I started experiencing burning sensations in both arms late last summer. The sensations were not noticeable while I was active (working and golfing) but generally started in the evenings when I was relaxing. I had just started Lipitor and several of my golf buddies said that they had experienced the same problem when they were on the med. My doctor took me off the med. 6 weeks ago and ran all types of blood work but found nothing. The sensations have diminished but I am still having them. Has anyone else experienced anything similar to this and what have you done for it?

My partner has the very same problem that many, many of you seem to be suffering from. A couple of years ago, he started experiencing hot feet. This was mainly at night. The burning hot feet then turned into hot and PAINFUL feet and more regulary. Now he suffers with hot, burning feet, hands, arms and it just doesn't seem to get any better. Like everyone else in this "thread", he has visited many specialist and naturopaths, had numerous test done and nothing shows up anything. He does not have diabetes, he does not drink much alcohol or smoke. I SO MUCH, REALLY WANT TO HELP HIM. I AM DESPERATE. I have searched the internet over and over as I am sure all of you have done.
too. I just wish someone out there would have the answer for him. He is at the moment on a heap of natural medicine, all to help with circulation, neuropathy and you name it, but nothing is offering him any relief.

Margaret this is my second attempt to send you a message- computers!!! cut me off when I had just finished. Problem is brain, spine or digestive. So now I will summurise. Vegan diet 2 meal a day. Include gut flora, good fats (watch oils in products), Bs, Ds, folic acid but look to whole foods, then supplements. Simple herbs but the rights ones. Thats a starting point. Cut caffenes and alcohol while trying to recover. Even in what I have just commneted on this is not all just as obvious as one may think. Education, will power and persistance required though hard to find I know. Include a fitness program that will increase oxygen, water and nutrition to the feet. Assess and treat spine and feet by combinations of electrotherapy, hydrotherapy and mobilisation. Mental & body rest important through recovery. Little keys hold the answer. I am picking the eyes for you from health principals though it be hard to see it in this short message. I was just browsing, this is not my common port of call. My health is fine. Your course is set right but is somewhere out, maybe even though it be by a fraction.

Sounds like a form of PN.. neuropathy.. can be caused by Diabetes, arthritis, HIV, alchohol, some medications can cause PN, actually you would be surprised at what can have an adverse effect on the nervous system., Try Neutin (sp) it is a drug that is used to halt seizures, but also works on neuropathy. It is real importnat to find the under linning cause, a lot of doctrs will treat the sysmptoms and not the disease. EMG from a nuerologist, is a test to check PN and reflexes.

I wish there was an objective way for doctors to measure pain, so they would understand how serious we all are. I have mild carpal tunnel syndrome, but the occasional numbness in my hands at night has gotten steadily worse. Now, my hands frequently go numb during the day and wake me up with excruciating, burning pain every night, despite my wearing wrist braces. In the past few weeks, my feet have started going numb once in a while, too. Sometimes when I stand and start to walk, my leg muscles burn (someone above described it well, like I had already run a marathon). I'm slightly overweight, but I'm fit, active, and not in the least diabetic. The lack of sleep and burning pain is starting to wear me out and I'm only 34. I'm going to try B12; good luck to me and all of you.

I myself dabled onto ths site. I was diagnose of MS in 1998. I have been on Copaxone. But I strongly believe I have been mis-diagnose. I do not have much of the smptoms of MS. But I have trouble sometimes balancing. I also have trouble walking, I cannot walk a block. My nerologist said I have trace of MS on my my brain. Whenever I stop my meds, I notice I feel a much better. What I strongly believed I had was a bone problem (Bone spur). I have all this bone groeth on my body. The two pronounced ones are on my knee area. I also have a big one on my ankle. I strongly believed that they are causing some kind of nerve damage. I exercise 5 days a week (Lifting weight, and cadio). Again, what i have resulted to is to continue exercising, and try the B12 doses. I have also intend to remove the bone growth on me and see if that will improve my quality of life.
As I was reading everyone story, everyone of them felt like I wrote them. I live your story everyday, hour, minutr and seconds and hoping for a miracle some day.
Do not stop fighting!

In 2004, i suffered an injury while going through electronic doors.they were very heavy. they slammed me on the upper left arm (shoulder area). Since then I have had all types of problems. Tingling, numbness and coldness in my left finger tips, swollen hand, etc.. I am a concert/opera performer and I need the use of both hands to play piano and be expressive.. I was first prescribed Vioxx, Bextra, and pain killlers. As we know, two of those drugs were recalled. I have had 1 year of therapy which helps until I start doing routine things with my left hand. It is now 2005 and I still have alot of the numbness, tingling and cold sensations in ly left arm. i have seen two neurologist, who are really trying to work with me. I just finished a regimen of steroids. (Medrol) they helped only with the stiffness.it is a challenge for me to squeeze, sweep, braid my hair, manipulate the simpliest task that may require my left arm to have any resemblance of strentgh. I was not like this until the accident!!!
I have read comments posted by each of you. Is there any one who started experiencing these symptoms post an accident, fall or injury?? Now my Neurolgists are recommending that I start Neurotin. I am TIRED of putting medicaines in my body. I do no believe that I will find a solution....but so far, pumping pills difinitely is not the answer for ME!
Any reponses???

P Burns, I've got a response, don't take neurontin. It's primary use is for stopping Grand Mal Seizures!!! can you imagine what it could do to your brain chemistry???

I finally found some sympathy. My husband has been suffering from unconfortable jumpy lower legs and swollen hands for about seven years at least, and doctors do not seem to have answers. It is mostly when he relaxes on the sofa in the evning that the symptoms are felt so much so that he has to go to bed for relief. I will follow your suggestions because the situation scares me a bit. My husband was a heavy heroin user for seven years, he has been clean for five now, but this uncomfortableness seems to have started then and never left him. Can anyone make sense of this or has the same connection with heavy drugs?

I've been up since 3:00am looking for help and came across these posts. My hands and feet always burn, especially at night. I can't put my hands under the bed covers. I wake up every night with burning hands. I'm 46 and generally in good health. I drink too much diet coke and will try cutting it out completely. Thanks for all of your comments and advice.

Hiwhy is it we all seem to be suffering the same symptoms but modern medicine doesn't seem to know why and how to fix it. i 've come to believe i have to fend for myself and have lost all confidence in MD's. I think natural is the way to go. Lot's of water (even though all of it is polluted) and as much fresh raw food as possible nothing processed and herbs and vitamins. i think many of you have come to the same conclusion. many of these symptoms are brain related and modern medicine knows really little of how the living brain works.viruses of the brain don't show up on MRI"S and I think alot of these things are caused by bacteria, viruses and fungus in the brain. Good luck God bless.

Since last email, I have gone to naturalist doctor. She says this pain in my feet (and by now a really ugly purple blister in one toe) has something to do with my diet, and bad breathing. So now on a very vegan diet, and trying to cut down on smoking. The pain is going away sometimes, but it comes back. Perhaps over time they will hela?? Has anybody else here healed?. I GET DESPERATE SOMETIMES. And I am very afraid I have something the doctors are not recognizing. I will give you my follow up. We will see if there is something in common that can help all of us out.

Hi I've had spinal surgery on t12 - l1. Actually I've had 3 surgeries. The last surgery they went through the lining of the spine because part of a disc detached and went through the lining of the spine and attached itself to the spine. So they went into the spine and removed it and patched up the lining because it was to swollen to fix. when I woke up I couldn't move my right leg. It took several months to be able to lift or move it. I'm still have problems with it. The nerve hasn't regenerated so I have to keep exercising my legs. They put in 5 screws and 2 (4") pins in my back. That was during the second surgery and then they had to take them out and put all the hardware back in. My feet still burn and tingle constantly. I get burning sensations in my back as well. I can't sleep proper because my back still hurts. I think it gets irratated by the screws. I'm booked for another MRI. Last June they found a cyst on the MRI. Now they want to see if its growing. Its in the same place where they went into the lining of the spine. So I've had tons of problems and they don't seem to care to much if you're hurting. Sometimes I'm in great pain. Now my lower back hurts when I bend or try to do most anything

From reading all the comments and symptoms, I have no idea what causes my problem. My hands and feet sometimes one, both or all at some time or another I feel pinpoints of burning pain. It feels like I m burning from the inside out. I look at my palm and you can see the red area that is on fire. cold touch dose not work because when I apply cold. my hand get stabbing pain of needles. when I complain and try to explain to Dr. he just dismisses complaint. I feel like it goes over his head. In reading letters. I m going to try the simple first. vitamin B-12 and see where that leads me. Hope for the best. thanks

I agree with several of the posts, doctors, even with all of thier training do not live in our bodies. I have been going to the doctors for years with symptoms that indicate nueropathy, but so far the science does not match the symptoms. The last doc suggested I try accupucture, has anyone attempted this with any success?

I have had RSD for 2 years now. I have tried medications up to Methadone and Percocoet. The Doctor is now attempting to try Gabitrol for the pain 8mg TID. I hope this starts to help. I have burning, muscle spasms, stabbing sensations, electrical (I call them) jolts in my forearms and shoulder. At times the jolts will cause my arm to literally jump hard unexpectedly. I now have Severe Osteopenia in my left hand and wrist along with Moderate Osteopenia in my right hand. Both hands, wrists, and right forearm up to mid forearm were trapped underneath a slide board during transferance of a patient from the stretcher and bed. I was not given the 1,2,3 count by the Nurse Aides, so I had an unexpected pushing hard against my hands and forearms. I received a break to on of the bones in the right hand. A Bone Scan was obtained with uptake in both hands. An EMG was obtained with Carpel Tunnel Syndrome diagnosed. A carpel tunnel release was done. Soon after I developed "RSD". I now have as well, severe degeneration of the C-5,6 area causing increased neck pain, RSD spread up my arm to shoulder and neck. My left hip, left foot and right knee have now began having trouble. I have become severily depressed due to the constant pain and dysfunction. I have tried the Ganglion Nerve Blocks and have obtained 50% relief. The only problem is that when the block wears off the burning thick needle pricking and deep aching pain comes back more intensily than was present before the Block. I have tried a "Pain Clinic" and it only aggrivated the symptoms repeatedly. The Vocational Counselor told me that there was no occupation that I would be safely appropriate working. Neurontin up to 3600mg @ 1200 TID was also used. Now "Cymbalta" is being tried. I certainly hope to have more relief with this trial of medications. By the way I canot take long acting medications as I have and Ileostomy, so the Cymbalta had to be increased to 90mg. It is hard to determine how much medication I receive from medications that are supposed to help "RSD" but are enteric coated or sustained release. Is there any other medications outside of Elavil, Trazadone, Risperdal...etc that has been effective in treating RSD. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have read so many of your notes. I hurt for you. I have been going thru recurring rashes, infec., carbuncles and so much more since Nov. I noticed one persn said tht B12 and Folic Acid helped her. Maybe it is the combination that helps. Mine started with mold and a compromised immuse system. I have elimated all sugar, bread, starches etc. And added medicines for a wholistic doc. and vitamins. I am loosing but stil experience these probs. to the point that I think I will have a nervous breakdown. Faith is what keeps me going and trying. I will pray for you as a group. I have burning and very numb feelings in my feet just about every evening. This seems to come on every evening somewhere around 7-8 PM. After finally getting to sleep (which doesn't come easy for me, usually no less than 1 hour) I wake up almost every morning with all the discomfort greatly diminished or gone completely. I feel like a new person in morning ready to work, play golf or whatever else I want to do. It seems like a real Jeckyl& Hyde case. I've noticed many suggests in previous thread I've read that the "B" vitamins help in these kinds of symptoms. Is it worth a try to take a "B" complex? I have been to neurologists, podititrists, cardiac and general practitioners and all seem puzzled or just pooh-pooh my problems.

I have recently started having burning and painful feet. I know some have written things about having cold feet, and their pain is certain times of the day and many other things. Well my feet burn and hurt 90% of the time. I do not and have not had cold feet. I do have Fibromyalgia and have been going thru a detox program where my feet are put in warm water and a little machine that works with pulling toxins out thru my feet. But the Dr. that I am working with doesnt seem to know anything about this causing burning feet with pain. He doesnt really say anything. If anyone can help in anyway email me at joyce0013@hotmail.com It seems like I have tried alot of the things you all talk about. I cant hardly wear shoes and sometimes even put my feet on the floor. God Bless All.

Well...I fell in 1997 and have undergone 13 operations. They include a left knee replacement (twice) and two left foot operations due to my change walk to relive pain around the nails of the toes. I also had to have my L4-L5 as well as the L5-S1 fused in my lower back. When they did the back operation, they tore those same nevers!
I now have growing pain and numbness in the left leg and middle of th eleft foot. My toes are about to swell off by the end of the day. So...I am a retired teacher and coach. I aslo am a certified personal trainer. My search for relief has caused me to enroll in a Chiropractic school. I have found that the pressures above the affected area can be relived by Chiro treatment. It helps me! I also keep moving at the local gym four days a week.
Once damaged...if anytime goes by...they can not fix the problems. No matter what they tell you! I have tried. BUT you can allow the body to adapt! Keep moving as much as you can! Fight back and your body will help! Keep the nerve pathways as clear as possible and your body will help your doctors.
I am not suggesting that you do nothing! I have done the operations...and may have more. I use the pain medicine to cope each day. But I remind you...we are hurt...not dead! Fight back and live each day. Sounds like junk I know...but the alternative is............

I started with burning toes a few years ago, and now my arms burn like sunburn, and sometimes my face as well. The front of my thighs hurt as well. Tried many things without any results. Have many doctors and they all throw it into the peripheral neuropathy bucket. Abiem helps to get sleep at night. Rolling foot on cold soda can does as well. "Reliv" vitamin shakes have helped some.

a friend of mine has severe neuropathy in head arms stomach and legs. it is so bad he cannot bare clothes touching him.he has had a number of pain killers none of which work. he is now on morpine as the doctor does not know what else to do as he has never seen anyone with this so severe.and is just playing about to see if he can find something that works.my friend is diabetic and on insulin. and the pain only started when he started injecting insulin. i thought maybe he was allergic to the insulin but was told this does not happen. even his first bit of food gives severe pain in his jaw. but he has no pain in his feet and only last few days it has started in his hands. he tekes vit b12 but nothing is helping him at this point he has had to stop work cannot walk or drive. his day is basically laying on the sofa and not moving due to the pain. to see a grow man cry is heart breaking. i have spent hours on the internet but can not find any thing as bad as what my friend has. can anyone please help or give advise as i am desperate. thank you. and to every one out there in pain, dont give up and good luck to you all.

I've recently had awful pain in my ankle radiating down into the bones of my toes. Also have had some "pins and needle" sensations. It hurts so bad at night, (hurts worse laying or sitting down than standing up) can't sleep. Comes and goes but sometimes it is so bad I can't take the pain. I am going to see a podiatrist this friday. My regular doc mentioned possible tarpel or tarsal tunnel? I am 16 and for the last 3 months I have been experiecning terrible burning pain in my legs, feet and arms that feel like my bones are being crushd. I have been in and out of the ER a few times to get morphine for my pain, I was addmited to the hospital for 5 days where they did MRIs CTs lyme tests Full Body Scan, multiple blood tests. All which came back negative. Mono test-negative I am in a junior in Highschool and have been out of school for 3 months. They have diagnosed me with Chrinic Fatigue Syndrome, and Burcitis but that doesnt explain all the pain I am in. I have more then the 18 tender points to be diagnosed with Fibro Myalgia. It seems to me like my doctor is not taking me seriously, he has asked my mom multiple times if I am faking this. But I am not. I have never been in so much pain in my entire life. I have not been out of the house, I start water therapy today. If anyone has had these symptoms and has a diagnosis please respond to this message. Or if you have a way of relief.I cant even walk on my own, I have a walker
16 yrs old and desprate to have my life back...

I left the above 2 comments, I also want to add that I have a negative Lupus test and multiple blood tests... The doctors have no idea what exactly I have, the only garentee is that I have bircitis--pocket of fluid in joints become swollen, produce some pain-- but no one knows why I have so much pain. I am on lots of medication..... also I get extreme headaches, but this could be related to something completly different cause I have a swollen optic disk in my eye. The headaches feel like drilling. -not sencetive to light..not mirgrane-

My Sister was facing problem in 2003. Her Hands and legs were swellen and her skin colour has been changed into black on some parts of her face. During her mild stage, we took her to St. Johns Hospital, it was little bit reduced. Now she has to take life long medicine till the doctor says stop it. Now her Skin colour also has been changed a little bit. We came to know that disease is called as SCL.

I HAVE BURNING PAINS IN MY HANDS TOO. i WENT TO A VARIOUS BLOOD TEST. THE X-RAY AND CAT SCAT IN MY NECK REVEAL THE CAUSE. MY PRIMARY DOCTOR TOLD ME THAT LOTS OF MY NERVES ARE PINCH DUE TO MY ARTHRITIS IN THE NECK. NERVES ARE CONNECTED FROM THE NECK DOWN TO THE HANDS WHICH CAUSE BURNING PAINS. HAVE A CAT-SCAN IN YOUR NECK ....

MAY 31, 2005I think that many people on this site might want to take a moment and look up
DR. A. LEE DELLON ARCHIVES.
It is the only bit of hopeful news that I've ever read pertaining to neuropathy.
It is called nerve decompression and if you visit all the parts of that site you will understand what it means. There are also testamonials from patients who had this procedure done. It is an 85% success rate. My husband went for a consult today and DR. thinks he's a perfect candidate. We are both very excited over the prospect of him living pain free again.

To all of you:
You may want to have your heavy metals tested.
(24 urinalyisis).
I got arsenic poisoning from treated cca lumber when we
built our deck and my mercury is really high. I am getting
ready to have all my mercury fillings removed. I have at
least 4 heavy metals that are high. The neurologist said
I just developed neuropathy. I don't think so. It has
been a struggle for over 2 years.
If you have any questions email @ cmusicty@bellsouth.net

It Happen to me too. Burning feeling in my hands and arm muscles. Many blood test did not find the answer. Only the Cat Scan in my neck solve it. I have degenerative bone in my neck. Our neck is full of nerves that connect down to our hands. The nerves are pinch because of the C1-C5 bones
disalingment. Have all of you here have a neck cat scan.

Aprox 25 years ago I was exposed to very high levels of ammonia gas for long periods. My immune system eventually could not cope and I developed Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Allergies, Became restless, depression, anxiety, unable to sleep properly, damaged sinus etc, etc. Although I have improved greatly many of these symptoms still persist today. One of these is burning hands and feet (usually on the back of the hands and top of the feet. Though my body may be cold both feel very hot and I sleep with my feet and hands exposed to help relieve the symptoms. I can also develop severe chest and back perspiration at times through very little exertion and seem abnormally sensitive to sudden changes in temperatures or more extreme temperatures.
I believe both chemicals and stresses have played a significant part, and yes Doctors still have a long way to go in understanding the human body.

I am 43 and used to be an autobody painter and repairman. I have been out of it for about 4 years. I then went to electronics tech. (Some solder work) I too have intense pain that started in the hands, bulging discs in the back, after MRI we learned. But pain continues to get worse. They have let me go at work. A battle I will fight another day. Pain now getting worse throughout body mainly in the feet and heading up the legs. Blood tests done this week. Appt at KU med center later this summer. Rhuematologist has ruled out overuse syndrome-from the orthopedic doc, cerivical disc and rhuematic type of disease. He says I have a distal fiber sensory>motor peripheral neuropathy. And that I need to be tested for toxin exposures. He recommended Mayo or KU Med.(and academic medical center. I eat the vicodin for pain. It can take the edge off of things. Also the sun tends to kick it up and the that if storms are coming; pain is more intense and throughout the body. Big storms in Kc. this week worse pain experienced to day. Skin has a tendency to sting and feel hot or flush when things are in full swing. Best I can describe is a kind of weird body surge. Been to a variety of doctors. I play music too, (guitarist) and although activity helps to take the mind somewhere else other than pain, many times hands feel good after a good workout and then later kick up with pain something fierce. Anyone have any thoughts? I am going to read about ALS after above posts. Thank you.

Hi, im only 17 and i didnt even realise people got burning pains until last night! I was walking down the street with my friends and i got the worst burning sensation in both my feet, but not the soles, the tops of my feet! It felt like the pain was going all through my feet at 100 mile per hour and i was really scared! Im a pretty heavy smoker for my age and was just wondering if that could be why! Or if not, why! Im still pretty young

I am a 46 year old female, about 1 year ago I started getting pains in my right hand, then the left hand and up my arms. My hands and fingers are numb in the mornings too. Like all of you I have been to many doctors, had MRI's and tons of blood work. I have pain and burning feeling is in my feet and legs, even my ankles, it's crazy. My doctor told me yesterday it's because I'm depressed !!!! I walked out of his office, I couldn't believe it. I feel I have a very good attitude and stay positive, that just blew me away. It sure helps alot to read all your e-mails, Thanks

I get excruciating burning pain in my ankles and it rises up my legs and all the way up to my chest upon walking. It is so excruciating that I just want to dig my heart right out of my chest. My teeth even hurt. The pain goes away after I stop walking and rest for a few minutes, but if I try to finish walking to whereever my destination was it starts back up intensly.

Hi Linda, I know how you feel. I have alot of pain in my ankles and at times even my teeth hurt too. I found that wearing splints on my wrists and ace wraps on my ankles as needed does help. Hope this helps you, God Bless you and everyone else on this page. I know it's hard because the doctor's don't know what to do to help us. Take care, Leesa

I just have a general comment. It seems to me that a common thread throught out the discussion and that is that most doctors do not take our symptoms seriously. I am having the same problem. I have tried eveything but all I get is .."Well your CBC;s are normal" Everytime I go to the doctor, I get screened by the PA, and most times never really get to the doctor. Only suggestion I can make is do all the research you can, and then convince the doctor to listen, even if that means going to the hospital/clinic management and demanding treatment. I have foiund a lot of things can cause "our" symptoms.Diabetes, B12 defecincy, G.Barre syndrom, disc problems in e the back/neck..
Good luck to everyone.

My twin sister and I are 49 years old. 5 years ago we both started the same experience within a few months of each other. The only way I can explain it is ULTRA-SENSITVE feet and hands. It seems like our feet and hands are "on fire" from the inside out. Kind of like the pain you feel by holding something cold for too long. Kind of a "frostbite" feeling. We both had the mercury fillings removed from our mouths and have stayed away from sugar and yeast. My sister's was aggravated by installing a pool. I have a condo in Florida and noticed too that the pool bothered it more. Could it be the chlorine? I am having a flare-up now and would love to find a remedy.

Looks like we are all in the same boat. The ship of pain.I have been this way for 19 years after a car accident.I was under the care of a caripractors for 3 years and it helps to degree. He told me at the end he could not help anymore.
My pains move around but its always in the back and in the last 5 years the legs.Developed an ulcer after 6 years of almost daily asprin use, which helped.Have been using Hydrocodine or vicodin(a bad word) and Soma.Hydro in the day and Soma at nite. The probelm being it is costly and gets to be a part of ones life.Be careful. Can help some people..No easy cure I can find.I also have had tons of test.Look up a Pain Management center in your area. But have check book in hand $$$.Look out for the anti-seasure med. they use them for pain. And they make you feel like you have just come out of antesina the next morning, most horrible feeling I have had. God help us all.

My pain started in my index finger on my left hand. I now sufer most of the time with buring quite stiff hands and feet and some tikes it seems to be over my whole body.
I went to the doctor and had blood test for arthritis but all came back clear. Eventually I got so desprate I went to see a nutritionalist and she advised me to drink at least 2 litres of water per day. This did not include tea coffee or fruit juice pure clear water only.
The results were amazing, within 3 days my symptoms had improved by 90%. I stll have the burning if I forget to drink the right amounts of water. but it is certainly bearable.
Hope this helps anyone out there. best of luck!

Mine started with a rash on my left arm. It soon developed blisters. After about a week from the onset, I went to the doctors. He diagnosed it as poison ivy. He gave me prednizone and some antibiotics. Did not help. Started to get intense pain and blistering. He changed his diagnosis to Shingles. The rash and blisters are gone, but 10 months later, I have numbness and pain in my left arm continuosly. I was a housepainter by trade. I am 71 years old. Normal weight. Diabetic. I take a statin drug for lowering my cloresteral. I reserched the statin drugs on the computer and found that they may cause nerve damage. I quit taking them a few months ago. I do not know if they caused my problem, but I feel maybe so. I also have numbness and pain in my left hand. I cannot make a fist. I am trying vitamin C, and the B complex vitamins. I am thinking of trying Chelation treatments. Does anyone know anything about the Chelation treatments and wheather they might be worth a try. Thanks, George

My symptoms started as I was walking threw a crowded mall my spine started numbing at my T6 vertebrae. The numbing moved down my spine about 3 inches then nothing untill my L5 and it went numb. the numbing stayed for 15 minutes and then nothing untill 15 hous latter when I woke to my spine burning. It felt more like a debilitating pulled muscle strain 24/7 that felt like my spine would snap if I stayed standing or sitting upright for more than a half hour at a time. This lasted for 28 days but I had no strain to bring it on. The burning was moveing from my spine were I had the numbing to the muscle along the right side of my thorasic spine and the right muscle attached to my T6 for about 20 days then stayed as burning on my spine for the remainder. When the pain was in the muscels it felt as if they were completely seized up and pulling on my spine. I was also haveing streaking pain that would go threw my heart and down my right arm a few times a day starting with day 15 during this time period. It has turnd to aching and has now been 8 months. Has anyone had these symptoms? can anyone offer any suggestions thank you carter25353@yahoo.com
